When people find out I do origami, they almost always ask if I can make this thing... it's called a "fortune teller" or sometimes a "cootie catcher."

Learn how to make a type of flower that looks like a lily. I've used orange paper to make it look like a tiger lily, one of my favorites. You'll need to start from the frog base.

Learn how to make a lotus flower out of six separate sheets of paper. My sheets are 4x7cm but you can use any size proportional to those dimensions (yes, origami and math go hand in hand). There is a way to make a lotus out of just one sheet, but I think this fold is a little easier and looks better because you can make the petals and leaves different colors.

Learn how to make a paper football (American rules football). This is probably one of the first folds I ever learned to make, and I don't really consider it origami... but at the same time, I thought it might be fun since the BCS football bowl games and NFL playoffs are just around the corner. So make one and have a little fun playing office football while the boss isn't around.

Learn how to make a cool little tank. It's very similar to a spaceship fold that I've made a video for. It takes one sheet of rectangular paper (notebook or printer papers works fine) and another smaller sheet (about the size of a post-it note if you're using 8.5'' x 11'' paper). I used make tons of these things and wage little wars on my desk in school.

Learn how to make a flower pot which can easily be modified into a basket. It's fun for holding origami flowers or as a home made Easter egg basket. Of course you can just use it as a cute and decorative way to keep loose change or other knick-knacks.
