Earlier this month, the Direct Broadcasting Group (DBG) announced that it has introduced a syndication platform for small and large publishers to monetize their videos across multiple, related sites. This is an extension of DBG's current , broad-reaching syndication platform for its own stable of branded content. With the new offering, small and large publishers will be able to syndicate via DBG and split incremental revenue with DBG and the sites where the content appears.

As online video advertising rockets to nearly $2 billion this year, the industry will collectively need to take a number of steps to ensure the money is well spent. That was the conclusion of the Beet.TV Leadership Webcast which originated in the AOL Studios in New York last month. Those steps include proof for marketers that online video buys work for publishers, advertisers and consumers; standardization of metrics, measurement and ads; and also online ad verification and fraud protection.

Some brands are still unaware of what constitutes premium content online, and will often think first of YouTube and Hulu for online video advertising, even though those sites are still more centered on user-generated content and TV programming, respectively. Affine Systems, a small San Francisco, venture-backed start-up built around machine learning, has created a technology to "rip apart video frame by frame," enabling advertisers to associate ads with desired content.
