Hey what’s up, this is part two of the lesson on the Plain White T’s 1, 2, 3, 4, and this part, this lesson’s actually gonna be on the solo. So, bear with me as we go through the tab, now when you see the tab, it’s gonna be on two lines. So when you hear me say, line one and line two, that means line one is the top path of the tab, and line two is the second line down, alright. So, we’re gonna break line one up into, let’s see, three part, we’re breaking up actually into two parts, okay. The first part is gonna be much longer than the second part. And basically coz it’s the same thing three times, so you do the same thing three times, it’s beginning the solo. What that is, is, you’re gonna do a slide from 6 to 7 on the B string. Now, you could do it like this, but I usually think there’s another note on that 7th fret that I bar in. So it might hurt your finger a little bit, I mean, mine is, is hurting because I’ve been trying to learn this, and you’re not use to having calluses on that part of your finger, but that’s how I do it. If you wanna do something different, you don’t have to bar, you can just do single note, but I take my finger and I bar across the bottom four strings, okay. On the 6th fret, I play the B string and slide all four, just my finger up to the 7th fret, okay. It’s just like it’s a single slide with one finger except you’re barring, okay. So you play that B string at 6th fret, slide it to the 7, and then you’re gonna play the 7 three more notes, okay. 1, 2, 3, and then after that last one, 1, 2, 3, you play it on the G string, 9 – 7 – 9 , and back up to the B string on the 7th fret and play two more times. So it’s… okay, so, 6th, slide 7 on the B string, okay. 6th, plain 6, slide in 7, and you’re gonna play 7 – 7 – 7 on the B and it goes to the G string and you play 9 – 7 – 9 and back up to the B string, 7 – 7, okay. Now, getting the rhythm and the timing for this is probably going to give you a little trouble at first, it actually gave me a little bit of trouble, just because, you think you’ll be sliding you'll be slide and then 1, 2, 3, but it’s actually slide, and you play it twice 1, 2, and then you kinda give it a straight or a pause and you play, da, that’s it that 3rd 7, so. Instead of going, there’s a little bit of a rhythm difference, so you go, slide 6th to 7, you play, see this almost slide 6 to 7 and then two notes real quick, and that’s both the B string, 7 – 7, then you're gonna play 7th fret on the B string again, it’s almost four notes, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, and two. It's kinda rhythm so, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, let’s see, one, two, three, yeah, okay, so, one, two, three, four, one, two, three, four, one, two. Okay, so do that three times, so. After you're good the third time, okay, the only thing you need to do is you're gonna finish those last two 7 notes, which if we look at the first line of the tab, the last 7’s is that you see in the B string, which is the second string, okay. The last 7’s you see on there, after that there’s five notes, okay, and those last five notes are on the, you go to the G string, you play 7 – 9 – 7, slide it and play 6, that’s all on the G, and then you actually put that ring finger down the 7th fret of your D string, and it finishes up. So that all together sounds little something like this. One… second time… three, and you go, okay. That’s the first time through. Prepare for this finger to hurt, I’m gonna promise you, because mine is actually getting kinda sore now. So I remember, starting to remember what it’s like when I started. So, that’s the first line of the tab, the second line of the tab is a little more difficult, but not, I think you guys are gonna be fine with this. So, you start out the second line of the tab, the same way we did the first time, we’ll gonna only do it one time, alright. So you go… slide 6 to 7 – 7 – 7 – 7 down the G string, 9 – 7 – 9 back to the B, 7 – 7, okay. Then you're gonna go 6 on the B, slide to 7 – 7 – 7 – 7, but instead of going 9 – 7 – 9 , like you did the previous times, you’re just gonna play the G string 7, okay, and then you’re gonna play, with your pinky finger on the B string 10, middle finger on B string 8, and then 7 with the pointer finger on the B string, then your ring finger is gonna play 9 – 9 on the G, and 7 on the B, slide down, 5 on the bass, 7 on the G, 5 on the B, slide back up, 7 – 9 – 7 – 7, okay, so I’m gonna explain that a little better. So, if you look at the second line of the tab, about halfway through you can kinda, you can tell where the middle is, it’s between the number 7 on the G string and number 10 on the B string, okay. So, to the left of that, the first half of that line is, okay. So again the first half of the second line of the tabs is… okay. So after you play that, you’re gonna play 10 – 8 – 7 on the B, 10 – 8 – 7 – 9 – 9 – 7, slide down, 5 – 7 – 5, slide up, 7 on the B, 9 – 7 – 7, alright. Now that second half, okay, so what, if you go to the second line which is the second line tab, halfway down the middle between the 7 and the 10, you get little to the right, you’ll see 10 – 8 – 7 on the B. What I want you to do I want you to play 10th fret, your pinky, 8th fret with your middle finger, 7 with your pointer, and for this part I don’t want you to bar, alright. So you play, 10 – 8 – 7, then once you played 10 – 8 – 7 on the B, your ring finger goes into the 9th fret of your G, alright. Then you’ll play that twice, and then you play your 7th fret again on the B, okay. Now, if you look, this is on 7, this is on 9, so you have, you know… that’s 7, you’re gonna slide this down two frets to the 5th fret, this down two frets to the 7th, okay. So while you place the 9 – 9 – 7, sliding both down, play 5 – 7 – 7 that’s B string, G string, B string, slide back up to 7th fret with your pointer, 9th with your ring, and you play 7 on the B, 5th pointer, play this, and you play 9, and then you'll gonna play 7 on the G string, which you can just do that with your pointer finger, so, move it from here, and the last note, it’s the seventh fret of the D string, alright. So, that little, that second line all the way through sounds like this. Something like that. You can listen to the melody of the song and the melody and then see if you can get the solo better than that and there maybe some notes that I missing or I have wrong. But I think that kinda the general juice of it. Check out the first lesson if you haven’t seen it on the intro, riff, and the outro, coz it’s the same riff, and the chords and everything, and I kinda try to sing s little bit. So, just so you can get the rhythm for, so. Cool song, check out FreeandEasyGuitar.com, as always, get some really cool stuff coming up soon, and take care.
