Broken Down Golf Cart Cocktail Recipe
Hello everybody. Welcome to wine library TV, I am your host Gary Vaynerchuck and this is my friends. It is the Thunder show a.k.a Z internets and the most passionate wine program in galaxy milky way, I don’t care where you go and we love the vino and we love the bubbles and I will break it down, I’m sorry. And most of all we are talking about the 2002 vintage which is highly hot, high hot. Each squared are not like the hammer and more importantly, a value of driven vintage in my opinion. In fact to this wines are —this one, not much, my apologies. 50 bones, 80 bones. Get’s a little bit crazy but still a lot of great bubbles between $35 and $55 a bottle, not inexpensive but high quality in a great year. To me, more or so the 96th, the most exciting vintage since 1990 from what I tasted and I have been very fund of them and we go a little of battle royal because we did it last week, we still doing it and I’m excited about tasting these two beautiful sparkling wines.
So let’s get ride to them off and there’s no reason to wait.
This is De Legras 2002 Presidence Blanc de Blanc, 100% Chardonnay, 50 bones and let’s see what this little bubbly has to offer us. The Blanc de Blanc stuff is really exciting. You know, very focused Chardonnay wines in general and you’ve obviously have already seen the amazing champagne episode we did the other day and many love it and you have to keep this all inorder.
I’m going to pour a little bit more, just to hair more. Alright, let’s give this a little bit of snippy snip, De Legras, great producer in Europe of much less brand equity here in the U.S. which gives it an opportunity to be a little bit under valued. The Presidence to be 50 bones is just spectacular. You get that beautiful kind of like breadyness, not breathe but like bread. The one you eat with butter. A little hint of a pare flavor coming through, little more tropical fruit that I am use to, almost like a guava flavor on the tail under the nose. Let’s give it a whirl.
Really pretty apples and very smoky, almost like a barbecue in the backyard smoke and getting in your mouth. So smokiness, a little bit like sticks and apples. So kind of like a baked apple. Maybe if you took of apples and put it on the barbecue, you can get that kind of sensation.
Not whole lot of the acidity, not as acidic as I expected it and much creamier than I would have thought for this youthful bubbles of a wine Good, good champagne of overall but it lacks a little the zing and the zang, the zip and the zap that I’ve so look for in lot of my bubbles. In the squarest point, 89 points. I think it lacks some things and that’s a little bit disappointing because it’s a great vintage but it just didn’t bowl me over.
Let’s move on, spurs it out. This is going to be a tight show if I keep going up with this speed. Let me slow it down because I miss you guys. Anyway the Pehu Simonet, excuse me, the Pehu Simonet 2002 Grand Crew from the Verzenay, it’s a crew of single venue area of 80 US dollars and 94 points of wines spectator and let see what is going on here. Great color, let’s give sniffy a sniff and much more minerality coming through and almost floral kind of component on this nose and pretty nose, definitely a little bit creamier and little bit more exciting on the nose, let’s give it a shot.
Have you’ve heard of ding-ding-ding? I mean this is really, really no comparison. Let me get one more shot. I love the baked bread component here. Again, apples, you just can’t miss them in a lot of sparkling wines but a lot more of acid and just much more of razor sharp. And much more of focused effort from this sparkling wine. Now the package is cheesy, it kind and looks like a $6 wine and hate the clouded glass. The Pehu went for this and probably it just atrocious packaging from a marketing stamp point.
I score this wine a three. You know, but in general, from a quality stand point, this is spectacular. The flavors are bouncing and I get citrus peel and I get this really gorgeous like almond shell flavor now coming through until finish it’s extraordinarily long, it’s very focused. I love the acidity, well structured. This is some beast of a sparkling wine but it pricey, I mean, this gets into the grand crew. I mean the luxury Covey stuff.
So well made, love it. I think its spectacular and I’m going to agree that the wine expected that I’m going to 94 points and some little of 94 plus and some plusing you up spectator. Because this is spectacular and if your bowler, you’re P Diddying it, a little Jay Z action, print three, you can definitely rock and roll this champagne because it’s fantastic and its got enormous complexities that you don’t find in anything outside of the top of top of champagnes.
I’m going to even pour myself a little bit more of a class wine because I like the bubbles. Okay, there’s a little bit like of cheese thing going on as well. Delightful!
Score, 94 points and they get fantastic plus.
The question of the day, what are your favorite bubbles? You favorite bubbles experience. The best bottle of champagne you’ve ever had. Tell a the story, give a little of under the Eiffel tower and you proposed. You and a little bit of me, we are changing the wine world.
