Greg Morrison: One of the most obvious things marking the change in the new Murano is its appearance. The grill has been reworked along with the front hood lines, for more aggressive look. On the back end the lights have been extended to become part of the tailgate. Yet overall, the new version is only an inch taller and longer than the crossover it replaces.
The interior design has taken the approach that front seat passengers should enjoy the creature comforts of their own living room, and that rear seat passengers have the perception of a comfortable reception area. For 2009 the Murano was stepping up its optional features, adding a power lift tailgate and power controlled fold down rear seat for times, when there is a lot of cargo to hold.
A new option is a door moon roof providing light and fresh air for front and rear seat passengers. Under the hood is the reworked 3.5 liter V6 engine, cranking out 265 horse power and 248 foot pounds of torque. The CVT transmission is also been refined for faster response. So what's it like to drive the Murano now?
Richard Williamson: On hilly roads like this the fact you are not doing little gear shifting or the auto gear horning, they are really I think improves the drive part of it.
Greg Morrison: All of this rides on the deep platform which is shared with the mid-size ultimate Sedan and Coupe, somehow it comes together for the driver, who will notice.
Richard Williamson: Comfort leather seats, driving position is great, just feel like I'm totally in command of the vehicle. Exterior is beautiful and interiors too.
Greg Morrison: The Murano was available in three trim levels starting with the base S model, and moving up to the SL and the top of the line LE version. This is Greg Morrison.
