It is no secret that times are tough in the car business, but it's always nice when we have somebody to look forward to and certainly one of those aspects for this Los Angeles Auto Show is a new Mustang and it's nice that we have another new Mustang continuously in production, now for forty five years running.
As you can see this 2010, is definitely an update, an evolution, a mid-life for a vision, but it's a fair amount of content too. There is a new nose, new tail, wheels, colors, a lot of money put into the interior, they have redone the dash, updated the infotainment.
V6 is pretty much carry over as it was and there is an update for the GT engine. Previously 300 horse power, now the 315 horse power unit that was available in last year's Bullet. Now you say with the 360 or so horse power Challenger, and the same out of the new Camero, is that going to be enough? In my opinion, no it's not.
It's too bad that Ford did not have the time and the money and the opportunity to perfect that 5 liter engine we know that they have been working on and give us the 350, 375, 390 horse power that it's capable of, but we have what we have.
In their favor, however, we are well aware that neither the Dodge's Challenger or the Chevrolet Camero will be offered in convertible form. So Ford has got that aspect of this phony war to itself.
So 1970, all over again. It's Ford versus Chevy versus Dodge. I can't wait to drive these cars. You'll read about it in our magazine. You'll see it online when we do and this is The 2010 Ford Mustang.
