Of course you remember the Ford Taurus SHO from the 1990s, the every man's kind of sport sedan within engine that was massaged by Yamaha. Well the Taurus SHO is back, but this time it's got an in-house developed EcoBoost V6. A twin turbo, 3.5 liter unit with gas direct injection rated 365 hp, 10 hp more than the same engine in the upcoming Lincoln MKS with EcoBoost.
The engine that makes 350 pound-feet of torque, and its made it to a six-speed TAPshift automatic transmission that matches on the down shift. Cosmetic changes to the Taurus SHO are pretty subtle. There is a little lip spoiler in back, there is two dual exhaust. Of course, there is a very nice sway weather seat insert, another touch is on the inside to let you know that you are in not in your father's Taurus.
Taurus SHO goes on sale this summer, just little bit after the new 2010 Taurus model comes out, it will be available with 19-20 inch tires, base price is $37,995 including destination. And the car will get 25 miles per gallon with on the highway with that EcoBoost engine.
Now this car has all wheel drive as well, of course it's based on the front wheel drive platform. It might make it a little bit less relevant as a sport sedan, compared to some of the competition like the Pontiac G8 GXP, some of the Chrysler SRT products that are based on the real drive platform. That's said there is a real built-in kind of audience for this car. Taurus SHO gun lovers who have been waiting since the 1990s for a new model and they'll be buying up these cars.
