Miranda Lightstone: Because driving one Porsche wasn't good enough, we had to drive two, the 4S and the Turbo back to back. Hi, I'm Miranda Lightstone with watchmojo.com and this is Porsche's idea of a practical sedan the Panamera. If you've ever sat in the Porsche before, you would realize the Panamera is extremely different in it's interior design. First of all, you have this much larger middle console that houses all the necessary buttons you need to make your ride more comfortable and more sporty. And you think that this would take up a great deal of space, because in the Porsche you usually have your shifter, your armrest, your cup-holders and that's it. But natural fact that makes the car lot more functional and you want these buttons here, there are in just the right place. The Panamera like other Porsche's in the line up features a touchscreen entertainment system where you can access all the cars informations. If you don't want to use that system, then you have the option of an in-dash screen which you can scroll through on the steering wheel and you can access oil pressure, tire pressure and your iPod list, see where you are going on the navigation screen or if you're lucky enough to put your Porsche on the track, you even have a timer to see your fastest lap. Obviously the most unique feature in the Panamera is the fact that it has a functional back seat, where two full size adults can sit quite comfortably, now in the past the back seat is kind of seeing like a joke to Porsche after sitting in the back of an 911 Turbo I can attest to that. However, in the Panamera, you have comfort and you have luxury where eight way adjustable seats are available as well as an axillary port, if there is an entertainment package where passengers could hook up their iPod. One of the coolest features on the Panamera in my opinion is the fact that it actually have a functional trunk that usually in a Porsche the trunk is in the bonnet and it's barely big enough to fit a cooler and if you need more space you can push down the back seats, that's fantastic. Driving in the 4S is pretty much like driving in any other Porsche they really kept performance in mind when they created the Panamera. And this particular model it's a equipped with all wheel drive which is great for winter driving and you can also adjust the ride hight. So last week I was lucky enough to be in the Panamera 4S and I truly thought that was a really fast Porsche, but this week I'm in the turbo and I tell you it's an entirely new level of fast. Even though it's only a 100 horse's difference between the 4S and the Turbo, 4S having 400 and the Turbo having 500 it's a massive difference when you're behind the wheel. You feel the power in the turbo you really do and you almost have to be very careful about when you actually stamp on the throttle you need make sure you have enough space and you can control the car because it's so fast. If you are lucky enough to have a Porsche equipped with the PDK which is a Porsche Doppelkupplung, dual clutch transmission then you are also lucky enough to be able to do a control launch. You also need the car to have a sport plus mode, so basically when you do select sport plus which tightens the chassis lowers the car and gives it a sportier feel, it even gives it a bit of an over boost put it into drive match your left foot on the brake which is highly unnatural and then get on the throttle and go. For 2010 Porsche introduced a brand new transmission system the PDK or Porsche Doppelkupplung, a long complicated German word that basically means a dual clutch transmission and what that means that the gear above or below is already engaged so if you are in second, third is ready to go or first if you really want to shift down to first which you never really show. If you're in third, second is ready to go or fourth is ready to go. And I tried my best to kind of use this system so I can make it laggy or lurchy or uncomfortable in any way which get off than these when you have a sport shift transmission like this. But Porsche has managed to create this system and it's so flawless, shift up, shift down the system is ready to go, it's going to speed you up or slow you down depending on which gear you're going to, it doesn't matter it's going to do with perfection. The look of the Porsche Panamera is quite polarizing, a lot of people look at the car and think Uhh Oh my god that's not a Porsche it's so ugly but really if you take a closer look at it, it clearly has the Porsche lines from nose to tail and it even has a signature little wing that pops up when you hit the highway.
