2010 Rolls-Royce Ghost Review.
Hi! I'm Joe Weisenfelder from Cars.com. Everyone knows what Rolls-Royce is. They
know it stands for ultra luxury and prestige. What they don’t know is what a current
Rolls-Royce looks like. It's not the swoopy old fashion looking thing. The current Rolls-
Royce looks like this. Well, actually it doesn’t look like Rolls yet -- now, it does. This car
might look like the flagship Roll-Royce Phantom. It's actually a 2010 Ghost, which is a
little bit smaller and instead of $380,000.00, it starts at a mere $245,000.00. It's the Rolls
for the rest of us.
As you might expect, a Rolls-Royce has lots of tricks and thrills starting with the doors.
Door trick number one, apparently it's rainy in Great Britain, not only do you get a
umbrella in both of the front doors, you get the nicest umbrella you’re ever touched. This
umbrella is too good for me. Door tick number two, backdoor opens this way. It's a coach
door. Door trick number three, push this button here. I like it.
Our car’s optioned up to $305,000.00. This panoramic moonroof is $7,000.00. Front and
rear ventilated seats that’s heated and cooled, $3500.00; front massaging seats, $1100.00;
rear massaging seats, another $1100.00. These so-called picnic tables with a little
extension for your laptop, $2800.00. Now, right above the picnic tables, the rear theatre
configuration has two large screens about nine inches diagonally. You can play DVD, the
usual stuff.
Now, you can fit three people in the back seat but with the individual seat configuration,
$6,000.00. You get all sorts of control. Either side gets backrest adjustments, bottom
cushion adjustment. There’s a lumbar control.
I have to mention, even though this car is shorter from bumper to bumper than the short
wheel base phantom, it's actually roomier inside. It's a totally different platform and it
actually has a much more powerful engine with more than 560 horsepower, does 0 to 60
in less than five seconds. Pretty impressive for a car that weighs two and three quarter
tons. But this is not a sports car, this isn't trying to be what some of the competitors are
from Porsche and Bentley, etcetera; it's all about isolation and comfort.
It's exceptionally quite, comfortable, luxurious inside. The wood all comes from the same
tree, so it has matching grain and it ages the same, the color stays the same across the car.
There are no fewer than eight leather hides used in once car. Our car actually has an
Extended Leather and Door Pocket Lighting package for $2100.00, a little more leather.
And when you put your hand into a pocket like here in the door, a light comes on, only
when your hand is in there.
