3 Point Hoops - Application Review

Hi, what’s up everybody? How are you doing today? I got another application review for you guys. We have three applications. All of them are paid applications. All of them are $1.99 each. So let’s start this review off. As you guys see they are all by Skyworks, a pretty popular company if you guys haven’t seen any Skyworks applications before. Some of the other ones you can go check out our Arcade Hoops, Arcade Bowling. There are some of the more popular applications. They are really cheap applications and have really high quality gaming to them, very simplistic controls usually and usually their applications do tend to make it to the top of the app leader board in the App Store at some point. So pretty solid applications here, pretty solid company, let’s start this app review off with Mental Blocks. The only reason that I have a problem so much with Mental Blocks is that the game play is very cliché. There are a lot of other apps out there in App Store like this game. There are a couple of twists and turns in this application specifically which will make you sometimes want to go buy it but if you are not on to this sort of a hardcore puzzle game. Then you might want to just pass over it. So when you start off, you have an HDE at the top of the screen. It reads three different things, level, score and bonus and then your prompt here in the middle. This comes with a purple box that will give you your goal per specific level. Some of the levels have different blocks and power-up blocks throughout. So it’s different mission through each level. But anyway we started off and the way that you do so is that by touching a block. Any color of the same block is touching that block that you tapped. They alter and shaded and then also turn start flickering or what not. So anyway you tap it again and they all disappear. So just like with this with the blues, do it again and then all the blocks will collide in together. So now I have seven bonus blocks. We get such high combos and each time that you have a block remaining at the end of the level, just like that blue one at the end. One of your bonus blocks will be taken away so same thing as the last level. The level start to become more tough, difficult, more colors will come in. Example right here, here is a different power up block. We touch this and all blocks surrounding it will be destroyed. So very simple game play as you guys see here, nothing too fancy there, very common game play. There is a lot of other apps out there like that in the App Store but anyway if you want to go and check that one it is called Mental Blocks, $1.99 app from the application store. Next one I love called Three Point Hoops, very simplistic controls almost too simple but the online leader boards make it so much fun to try and to get a higher score each time. So you have classic game and sudden death, go into classic game mode and very simple. You are like just any three point competition, standing at the three point arch and you are going to have to move all the way around from different spots. There are nine different positions. You start from the center and you just simply just flick back and you flick forward. So as you guys see the front ones will be a little bit easier. For some reason I am doing terrible though. The first time that I played this application I was not loving it too much because I was playing it and like, “Man, this app so easy” and then it’s starts moving you all the way around to the different positions on the three point arch, arc or whatever you want to call it. It starts to become a little bit more difficult, so simply this is pretty much the entire application. You are just flicking back and you are flicking forward. Up at the top with your HDE, you have position. We are on the second of nine positions so you go all the way around, go back around. Here are your points. Each ball is worth three points unless you get to the money ball which is the orange bar right here. Flick it back, flick it forward, five points. I don’t know why I am doing such terrible. That is kind of embarrassing actually. So anyway let’s go to the main menu if I can go to the main menu. So we so that is classic game going to sudden death, very simple idea, very simple concept just like the other one, except this is shoot until you miss so that’s the game play So just as easy as that. Anyway go into the options or the start menu basically. Here is a little up-to-date information on how the game plays work. Here is your music, volume, sound effects, volume and new different sound tracks. So I've got quite a few different options in the start menu, go to the main screen actually and we have high scores here. Yes we do have the four highest scores built-in so this is your My Scores right here. My high score is a 111, not too high actually kind of a downer and then go into global scores. You need to be connected to Wi-Fi, 3G or any of that and then this will have everyone’s high scores all around the world. So daily and there is an overall. There is much different tabs at the top, let us go to overall and see where I am. I am 40th in the world overall. Is there anyone that I know above me that I can beat? No, no one above me. So anyway my high score for this is 111, try and beat. I hope you guys can. That is called Three Point Hoops, a $2.00 application from the App Store, very fun one. Skyworks is really good at making their sports applications. They got a few are already out there and they are pretty popular and I love them, so definitely go out and check that one out called Three Point Hoops. Next one my favorite of the three for reviewing is called Poker Match-up. I don’t know if this is a classic type of game play, an actual card game. I know what poker is but I've never seen it played this way and I love this game play. So from the start menu we have our play game, high scores, go into play game and there is a little description right there but I already know it. So anyway there are two different decks we are playing with right now. We’re in the first deck and there are 47 cards left, so as you guys go around, here is your score and here is draw. So let’s see what cards are we’re going to get rid. Let’s get rid of two, four and seven. These are all pretty low cards. So I will get three new replaced cards and then my deck will move down and I will get five new. So am playing up to three hands at one is what I am playing. So example I will show you guys right here. We are going to shift these cards over and once you have shifted one of the cards you can’t move of that one. You are still just accepts to use this one. This row down here is my first hand has a Jack and a King in it, above has a Jack and King and an Ace. So let’s get the King and Aces. So what we can do right here is we can take this six here and this five out. So now we click draw. Those two will be taken away, the top one will shift down because like the gravity will take effect and now on my next hand when that goes down I will actually that in a second so hold on, nothing too big above actually. I will actually just play through and I will show what happens. Now my card shift down and we got to compare two pairs. We have two Aces and two Kings now at the last hand. So anyway just a simple as that so now this row is set. It is a very simple game play as you guys see. It seems like it would be really dull game play when I first saw it and I am like I am sitting here playing poker by myself, can’t be too much fun. But the three decks or the three hands playing at once and also you are playing of two different decks is fantastic, great sound effects. The music really sets the mood for it. It actually surprised me. I though it was kind of dull music at first and then I started playing and I am like perfect choice for them, so I like this application. It seems like at first, I didn’t have too many high hopes for it. I thought this is going to be another card game application from the App Store. It is going to be kind of boring because I don’t really like playing cards by myself solitaire. I don’t like those. But when with playing three hands at once and using two different decks Skyworks did a fantastic job to keep this game up to beat, keep it fun, interesting and always different every single time. So you are not always going for the same goal. So definitely check this one out. That is called Poker Match-up. That is also a $2.00 download from the App Store. Out of these three that is definitely my favorite one. I love that game. Hopefully you guys enjoy all these reviews.
