Female: House hunting has never been so convenient 9 out of 10 home buyers today use the internet to search for homes.
Female: It gives me a lot of confidence. I fell like I don’t always have to rely on an agent.
Female: But with more information comes a greater potential for misinformation. And tough times can push sellers and lenders to fudge the truth. So if you're shopping for a house, here are three things to look out for. Number one, enhanced photos. Digital photos have made it easy to see what's out there but they can also be misleading.
Female: They can use photoshop, use enhanced lighting maybe using a wide angle length to make it look bigger.
Female: Also, be aware of your data on home values, knowing how much a home is worth is critical when buying or selling but don’t trust the numbers online. Some home value sites often provide inaccurate information and vastly different evaluations. For example, when I plug in this 4-bedroom house this site’s evaluation, $730,000.00, cyberhome, $616,000.00.
Lastly, beware of mortgage rates that sound too good to be true. Mortgage lenders often advertise fake low rates or teaser rates that aren’t available to everyone, the bottom line, be skeptical. There's no substitute for talking to agents and lenders and visiting properties in person. For CBS news of Jills Lesenger moneywatch.com.
