Welcome to tinkernut.com's video cast. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at admin@tinkernut.com. In this video, I am going to show you five cool tools that you can do using YouTube or using YouTube videos.
The first thing I am going to show you is how to play videos in the high quality. To do this, go to your YouTube Account settings and there should be a Playback Setup option in the Menu. Just choose the Always play higher quality video option and click Save Changes and that should allow you to view videos if high quality is available should shoot away to view the high quality version of it.
If for some reason it doesn't searches this video, just go up to the URL bar and at the end of the URL, type in &fmt=18 and then hit Enter and they should start playing it back in high quality.
Now, I am going to show you how to download YouTube videos, just copy the URL and go to vixy.net and this will allow you to download it in AVI, MPG or rip the MP3 from it.
Another cool thing vixy.net does is if you go to vixy.net/podcaster, it can take a YouTube search string and convert it to an iTunes feed or an RSS feed. So for example, I am just going to do a search for Tinkernut and in the URL, I am going to erase everything up to the Tinkernut and copy that URL and then paste it into the vixy.net podcast and then once you click Make Feed, it will give you an iTunes and an RSS reader feed. So you can put it in any RSS reader program you may have, such as reader.google.com.
The next website is called idesktop.tv and this is just kind of a more visual interface for YouTube. It has all of the same videos and connects to all the same search streams, but it's got a lot more options as far as a visual interface.
So the next website I am going to show you is called mixtube.org and this allows you to take YouTube music videos or songs on YouTube and create a mix playlist from it. So I am just going to create one called My YouTube mix and then just paste a video in there, click Add YouTube video.
You can do that for as many videos as you want. If there is a user on YouTube that has a bunch of songs and you want to add all of them, just type in that user's name, click Add All From User and then you can rearrange them as you want.
Once you've got it set the way you want, you can change the color of the playlist. I am just going to change mine to green and then click the Create Playlist button.
It's going to give you a URL that you can copy and paste anywhere and then you can play the songs, you can shuffle the songs, you can mix the songs. It's pretty cool. You can mess around with it however you want.
Alright, the next website is called tubechop.com and what this does is it allows you to take YouTube video and crop only the important stuff out of it. So if you have a really long video, but you only want to show somebody a portion of that video, you can drag the Slider Bars to the sections of the video you want and click Chop It and then you can copy the link or just embed the code for that video instead of playing the entire thing. Alright, that's it for this tutorial. For more, go to tinkernut.com.
