All right guys, for those of you that are following me on some of my last videos you’ll know that my 50-inch LG Plasma blew up on me that’s why I have to get a new one. It’s actually the second time it blew up. The same problem at both times and it wasn’t worth that money to fix it again.
So I got a new TV. It’s 52-inch LCD. It’s a Sharp Aquos I picked up from Costco which for those of you outside of the US is a large warehouse store. So let me take you guys around it and I'll show you what we got on the box here, 52-inch LCD right there, picture of a guy riding a BMX, full 1080P and the views are HDTV, HDMI and all that goodness. There's a model number. It’s a Sharp LC-C5255U, Sharp Aquos slim line design, advanced super view HD 1080P LCD TV, high contrast, brightness and ratio, advanced connectivity. It’s got four HDMI ports, two components PC inputs and additional connections.
So that’s the front of the box, some boring instructions on the top. I give you guys a profile track so that you can see. On the other side of the box it looked exactly the same as the front and nothing terribly exciting there, Sharp Aquos in the sides, some serial numbers and such, pictures of the remote, pictures of the connector is right there and on the other side of the box I'll take you around, exactly the same thing, nothing terribly exciting, so let's go ahead and open this thing up.
All right guys, let's go ahead and open this thing up. In fact I'm very curious in having another box in a new apartment so let’s go over it and open this plastic thing that you use to have here. With the cat you got yourself you need toys with that. So we've got a very special guest camera woman who is helping me record this, my beautiful girlfriend.
Let open this thing up here. This was an anticipated expense, I bought that LG about three years ago and I expected it to last much longer than it is, just three years. So I'm going to use whatever little inputs I have and technology wants to advice you don’t buy LG. Your LG may be fine, you maybe have a lot of it but it’s nicer to have not so take it as a caution here too.
That is my cat playing over duck. She’s quite into it. That was the bribe I gave her from moving to any place. She’s not happy to be put in the box and then I locked her in the bathroom all day. So we got that set opened up, let's go ahead and open up the other side. You know, this is 52-inch. My LG is a 50-inch Plasma and this TV is actually significantly wider than the outgoing LG so I don’t know if it’s just new technology or LCD’s in general are wider but something to keep in mind.
Also one thing to know about LCD versus Plasma which I just had to learn is that you can’t transport Plasmas flat. They always have to be upright. LCD’s, you can't turn around, so if you have to put it back in a truck or something, you know if you want to lay flat the Plasma is your guy, out of the question.
So you come over here. On top of the box we’ve got an obviously remote control, we just put it there, pretty sensor remote control, four buttons right there. I'll probably never use this since I use a universal remote with my cable but in case I do need it, there it is. Put that up to the side and since I compare everything to the iPhone here's a comparison of the TV next to the iPhone. You see it’s got a one button right there, just kidding guys.
All right, so go over here and see what else we got, power cord, a stylus—no, it just a rock cord and some batteries with it, the book. So guys I'm going to take this out but it even takes too much to get this out so the next thing you're going to see is what the TV looks like out of the box. So there is what it is inside, big box, big TV and so you guys can see it, they’ll be unwrapped.
All right guys we’ve finally got the TV out of the box. Let’s take a look at the connections. We've got an analog RGB from PC in. It’s got a DVI port, S-video components, video, component video, your composite, optical audio, your analog audio. There are three HDMI ports. My old one only had one so I'm so quite happy about that. There's a port one right there on the side as well as components ports and a USB port. It’s a little bit weird as you can as see that down there. It’s strange. Keep going around, nothing else here and the front of the TV is a great big panel, nothing terribly exciting to look at but you actually guys want to have it up on my stand.
So that one USB port we are talking about and eventually you can take a USB stick with pictures and plug it right in you can make your own little slide show. It is kind of cool, nice job Sharp, but most importantly is picture quality so I'm trying to plug this in and see what it looks like.
All right guys you got the TV up on the stairs at the stand. There are some little bit of a legs too. We have to build and screw in but they came with all the included screws, not a big deal. Let's go ahead and take that plastic off this thing. This is always fun. I hope I'm not making you guys too noxious with my handheld actions. I never claim to be a director.
So guys there you go. Here is an unboxing of my Sharp Aquos. I will use it for a little while and give you guys my impressions on it. See you guys in the next video. Bye-bye.
