6 Search Tricks with Bing.com Hi everyone this is Anthony Montalbano with Interneriot.com and today’s site is Bing.com. Bing is Microsoft’s new approach to search and it’s actually pretty intuitive. I don’t know if I could say it better than Google but definitely something I haven’t seen a long time to approach some of the Google searching techniques that Bing now offers. So what I'm going to do is just to give you a quick rundown of some of the things that I found with Bing that I like and I guess you can kind of go from there and make your own decisions but this is Bing.com, Microsoft’s approach to search. So, let’s just take a quick a look and let’s say I’m searching for something about a musician such as like Def Leppard. So what I’ll do is I can do my search for Def Leppard and it returns results. Now it doesn’t look like it turned it special for anything different in the normal search engine result that you’re going to get, but let me just kind of break this down a little bit and I’ll show you a couple of things that is really cool about how this works. Okay, the first thing I noticed here which something that Google do as well is show you images of your search if there are any, so here are Def Leppard images, cool. Alright, now here is the result. Let me show you a couple of things here. What it does is going to try to break down your results into the different categories so that maybe you can look a little more in-depth with this, so you’ll see is over the left hand side as Images, Songs, Lyrics, Tickets, Merchandise, Albums and Videos, so maybe you want to get a little more information about the artist in that way. So I can actually click on this and I’ll just return Images. Here comes the right I’ll click on Songs it will just return Songs, but I’ll just go back to my default search which was Def Leppard and I’ll scroll down. You can see where it breaks it off here. It actually segments it or categorizes it into different parts, so your search is actually being broken down into further categories that help you more alleviate what you’re looking for about the artist, so that was pretty cool. I did like that feature. Another thing with Bing too as you notice my mouse hovers over these different results. Over here in the right hand side there is this little loader and what you’ll notice is just it has given you more information about that site, so if I will actually leave the site you can have a quick preview about it so here’s a quick you know, I’m looking to Wikipedia I guess you can call this a little preview. It gives you a little history about it and if you’re the artist or some of the members of the band, so that’s pretty cool too. So, you don’t have to necessarily flip to all the sites right away but you can get a quick preview, so I’ve notice this especially with like recipe searches as well. If I can do a search for crème brulee, crème brulee recipe it’s really cool because I can actually get a page of recipes without even going to page and I can make my determination of which one I like the best and which one I think will work the best. That was a nice little feature too as well and of course here are videos on cooking it. You just put your mouse over and your quick preview as video. So that’s another cool thing I’ve noticed with Bing and then one of the thing I do want to show you I mean there’s a lot of things. It’s hard for me to just make a quick video about different features and functionality on Bing, but I think I can show you a few things I’ve just showed you now and the few of little things I do want to point out is the image search and video search is really cool and also for Shopping they do have a cash back program that you can actually make money or save some money on the purchase that you make through using Bing’s Shopping search. So, I’m just going to show you a quick preview of the image and video search and how it helps you find what the images you’re looking for, so I’ll click on image. It’s actually going off my original query which was a crème brulee recipe, but let’s try to go more along the lines of something more generic and I’m just going to go in something real quick in Detroit Red Wings I will search for that and I’ve got a lot of cool images. Now, man I’m looking for the Detroit Red Wings logo something like this. You have your mouse over these images. You can actually show similar images as you can try to find the one exactly you’re looking for, so I’ll click on show similar images and now you can actually get a lot of the logos that you’re looking for. This also works too if you’re looking for people. I’ve noticed that if I do a search for —while I’m doing this I’m going to do George Clooney and I get a lot of facial profiles here and say I’m looking for something along the lines of like that you can get some good head shots like that, so that’s pretty cool. And then a few of lots of things that you can do with your search and if you notice down here you can show size small, medium, large. They have a couple of layout options square, wide, tall. You can just kind of concentrate or actually get a better result of what you’re looking for as you can see here. Here are people you can adjust faces, head, shoulders if I want to just faces I can remove my searches and get more concrete search I’m looking for. That was another cool thing I did like about the image search with Bing. So, I guess that’s a really quick overview of some of the things you can do with Bing. There’s a lot more I think it really help if you just kind of start using it. Look at the features. Look on your left side. There are a lot of things it goes on here on the left, so just everything and time you didn’t search look over here, click on things and see what happens. So, that’s basically in that show, an overview of some of the things I like with Bing. Maybe find more yourself, that’s Bing.com, Microsoft’s new search engine or revamped cleaned up whatever search engine that they have now Bing.com.
