Hi, this is Mike Callahan, Dr. File Finder and welcome to part 10 of our special butterscotch.com 10 part series on Ubuntu. On this final part, we’re going to look briefly at easy updates. One of the reasons that Linux is so secure and safe is because problems in programs are discovered quickly and fixed. Updates will normally start automatically but I want to show you where there at, click on system, administration, go down to the update manager. It looks for all the updates that are available.
You can go through here and see if you wish, and you could uncheck any updates that you don’t like. Here is one for Fire Fox, several for Fire Fox. I'm going to install of them. Normally, this window just pops up. And you have to enter your administrative password in order to do the updates which is another plus for Linux. And it's telling me that it's downloading 86 files total, where it's at, what the download rate is I can have it show individual files if I like.
So, these are easy updates in Ubuntu Linux. Keeps your system running smooth, safe and secure. It's one of the beautiful things about Linux and Ubuntu in particular is that security flaws are found and patched quickly before anyone has time to take advantage of them which is a real benefit.
So, this is Ubuntu, the totally free operating system with lost of benefits and advantages. And that concludes part 10.
