A Home Office That's On Target
Color Splash with David Bromstad
Gee: David is on his way over to our house and we’re in this very critical
decision. We need to decide whether we’re going to put the office in the
smaller room, the bedroom. We could move our bed in here and make this
master bedroom and make the other room the office.
David: Hello.
Gee: Hi!
Dionna: Hi!
David: What you drinking?
Gee: Welcome to the party.
David: Alright.
Gee: We’re trying to butter him up a little bit.
This is obviously our bedroom, we don’t really spend that much time in
this room.
Dionna: It’s just a big waste of space and this could really be an amazing
multifunctional office.
David: Office really. Nice.
Dionna: I’m a teacher I bring my stuff everywhere I go and I’m usually down in
the kitchen like doing my work all spread out which makes him insane
because it’s like a big mess.
Gee: What we’re going for is something that’s you know super modern, super
clean.
David: Super modern you’re talking like…
Dionna: Ultra and I test you want to be surprised.
David: Good.
Modern rooms tend to have muted wall color like whites and grays. This is
because the objective is to make any art or furniture standout. This is why
museums always paint all of their walls white. They want the pieces of art
and the pieces of sculpture really to be showcased in their true form and
they can’t have that when you have red walls or orange walls or green
walls it takes away from the beauty of the art.
Gee: What we really wanted from David was to get a room where we could
walk in and feel like we’re in a completely different place from the rest of
the house.
David: So let’s see you’re in new office.
Gee: My god.
Dionna: It’s so amazing. I can’t even believe it.
Yehey, I love it, I love it.
David: What do you think of the bullseye?
Dionna: It’s awesome.
Gee: Love the bullseye.
Dionna: It’s so awesome.
David: Oh that’s so good.
Dionna: Yes.
Gee: I’m glad you decided to do that and it looks really awesome.
Dionna: Can I see the inside?
David: Stand here I will reveal, ready.
Gee: Yes. That is amazing.
Dionna: It’s definitely not something we would ever choose but that was the whole
point of having David here.
The color is amazing like…
David: And it is inspired by your color palate. The grays it’s soft the one thing
that is different is the red, that’s the one thing that punches it up. It gives it
a little energy. I wanted to unify the two spaces, office area, lounge area
with one unified element and that was the white lamps.
And this here look at how they soften the room, we have a lot of hard
angles and it’s not just curtains that’s an installation because we did it
from one side of the room to the other. Tons of storage, tons of places to
put everything, we have doors and drawers.
The architectural elements of that really speaks for themselves.
Gee: Yes.
David: That’s why I wanted to give you guys glass because that’s the coolest
space out there. I want to see you guys sit.
Dionna: Yeah.
David: Is this enough work space for you?
Gee: Definitely. This is plenty.
Dionna: Yeah.
David: Excellent.
Gee: Very calming like you know I feel going to be in here super productive.
Dionna: Concentrate.
David: Oh good.
Gee: Be away from all the clutter.
Dionna: Thank you so much it’s amazing.
David: My pleasure absolutely.
Gee: Thank you.
David: Enjoy the space.
