A Must Know Guitar Rhythm Pattern
[Demonstration]
Hey all. Welcome back on the Guitar Tricks Channel. I’m Neal from Guitartricks.com. Tip of the week is one this rug in your guitar, your rug in your guitar. Tip is to wipe down your strings after you play just to get some of finger---oils from your fingers off to your strings will make them last longer. It does saving you cash money on strings but the rug was like $6.00sp there goes one. The lesson of the week is must know rhythm patterns. This is an extra from Lisa McCormick’s tutorial from the guitartricks.com. He’s got a long list of Must to know rhythm pattern so we’re going to show you one essential one right here that you probably heard everywhere in rock pop country folk, Bluegrass and more. I’m going to play it for you regular speed and then we’ll slow it on down so you can see what’s going on.
[Demonstration]
Here’s how to play it. The rhythm pattern for that is strike the low note, the G. I’m going to quick down an up stroke. The next time your hand is down you’re not going touch the strings and then resume the strumming on the way back up.
[Demonstration]
Supporting that your hand keeps a smooth fluid motion that it keeps going up and down this is like tangling like a clock, this is your rhythm, your time machine right here just keeps going. If you’re having a stop and then go up or down or turkey motions and you’re not doing it correctly but keep the flow going you’ll end up with better guitar playing or better execution of the cords. So I’m going to play this for the simple chord patterns G, D and C in open positions so you can hear how it sounds.

There’s a variation from this tutorial. The first, down stroke take your time and let the pick scrape across each strings instead of a quick stroke like this.
