I am Steve Terrano, welcome to section of Body Performance.
You are always hearing me say that we are overweight but were not overweight because we are over eating and that weight gain is a gradual slow imperceptible process, and that is true.
Let me give you some numbers,
The average individual eats about a million calories a year.
Now, if you would gain about 5 pounds in that year, that means of that million calories eaten only 17,500 did not get burned up.
So that means our body does an incredible job of self regulating the amount of food we need.
Base on hunger and base on activity, I mean that is pretty good. That is about 98% accurate,
And most people are not 5 pounds heavier every year because in 20 years, maybe a 100 pounds over weight.
And most people 20 years after college or 30 40 pounds overweight so this means your body can regulate it self pretty on accurately. As long you are not going off the deep bending leaving on quarter ice-cream every night followed by pizza.
So my point is that in order to maintain your weight, all you have to do is a little bit of activity everyday and your body will take care of the rest.
Now if you have loose weight, you have to pick it up a little bit watch what you eat. But if you just increase your activity level just slightly through out the day on a daily consistent basis, week after week, month after month, you will not gain those 5 pounds at the end of the year and there is no reason why when you are 60 or 70, you can not be the same weight you were in college. Believe it.
Love your body.
