I am Chris Duke and this is Truckblog.TV. Getting into the bed of your pickup truck has always been a problem especially if it's lifted. There is the tire step method which is great, unless you've got a lift a truck with big old tires. There is the bumper step, which causes a lot of stress on your knee and a tailgate method, which is just downright sloppy.
Now Ford has introduced a solution. In the 2008 Super Duty and the 2009 F150 with the integrated tailgate step that flips down. Now as you can easily get into the pickup truck which is great, unless you can't lower your tailgate for example, when you're towing.
To solve this problem, AMP Research introduced the bed step which attaches to the frame under the driver's side bumper. Today on Truckblog.TV, I'm going to show you how to install one of these in six easy steps.
For this installation, you're going to need safety goggles, a 17 millimeter socket, a 21 millimeter socket, socket range and Allen wrench, and of course an ice cold beer. Let's get started.
Now before you get these nuts off with a simple socket wrench, think again, Ford's got these nuts on there pretty good. So grab a braker bar and 13/16 inch socket. Bust it loose, and then you can go on with your socket.
Next, install the upper mount under the linkage using the required hardware. Then torque at the 33 foot pounds using 17 millimeters socket. Now, slide the upper mount over the factory studs using the stock nuts and then torque to 59 foot pounds.
Install a step pad under the linkage using the two provided screws. Next, adjust the foot pads side-to-side to allow for foot access. Just want enough clearance for the bumper for your foot to get up there. And then tighten those screws with an Allen wrench. And finally, here is the Truckblog tip, they don't mention in the manual should be step number seven. It says, this nasty push sticker right, I am going to take that off. And if there's any sticker on there, just use the sticker itself to get if off nice and clean.

The installation time 20 minutes not for us. Skill level one easy. Tools required safety goggles, 17 mm socket, got that, 21 mm socket ratchet wrench, extension 3/16 allen wrench and really cool for goods. Jason, you are really torquing me off today. That was awkward.
