AVID Music Speakers - Review
Chris: Hi this Chris with watchmojo.com and I am here now with Conrad Mask. He will represent here with AVID audio. How you doing today?
Conrad: Very well, thank you very much.
Chris: So I see a lot of really interesting things here and I am figure just take me around and show me some of the things you guys have here on display.
Conrad: Yeah certainly! Well the most striking the thing of this is the loud speakers. These are the AVID guard speakers from Germany. They are home speaker, which is different to what most people probably say as drive units and box but more sort of an open plan and home speakers. And as well that we have the AVID ranger of turntables, so we have the AVID the reference here which is about 16-17,000 thousand dollars. We got racking here from Italy, which is solid steel, and were using valve audio which is a high breed valve transistor design in terms of the electronics.
Chris: The turntables are analogue by nature so is there any sort of digital sort of inter-medium between the communication with this?
Conrad: It is a pure analogue system and an analogue signal going right the way through.
Chris: So no corruption?
Conrad: No corruption!
Chris: In terms of the digital versus analogue, I guess I can call it a debate. I guess it safe to say that you guys tends to side on;
Conrad: Actually I do not decide to do anything music, it s music at the end of the day and if you go to a live concert do not think anyone since there thinking well this sounds digital. Wow this sounds analogue, at the end of the day the better the analogue equipment gets the more it actually starts to sound like digital but it has more of an open less aggressive top sound to it.
Chris: What is exactly is the idea of having this sort of horn like sort of design with this? What exactly does that do the sound and then;
Conrad: Home speakers are traditionally very efficient so you do not very big amplifier to drive them. And the home as you clear is that it radiates sound out. So it just works you know in a different way to a conventional speaker. So it gives a very big open sound and its probably more life sounding than a conventional speaker.
Chris: Just to look back here at this turntable and it looks impressive but I do not exactly know why I am impressed if that other need synthetic. Is there is something about this that its stand out in terms of a you know some thing that you find in other conventional turntables?
Conrad: Yeah! I mean the design of the turntable is completely different apart from guess the fact that it goes around. I am sure Ferrari would say that because it tells different Porsche in their design. Some of the unique features about this the way it dances up and down.
So, you get much better isolation in a conventional turntable which maybe the solid or not use such as efficient isolation system. The bearing and the motor power supply are again much more hardly spec up than you would do on an ordinary turntable. And it goes even things like the chrome plating finish and things about all as to the sound of quality.
Chris: The first question that came in my mind it is the one I say for last is, “How many in terms of this set up here right here now? How many watts of audio are coming out of this?” If that is even huge factor, in this case I mean how many watts?
Conrad: In terms of this particular, speak of this design for instance they are very efficient. So you actually don’t need a lot of wattage to get a very loud sound. I used the sound qualities that you need to be looking at probably than just looking especially which frankly means nothing.
Chris: Thank you very much and speaking of hearing it to be the really best judge, I like to get a sample of what this sounds like.
