I am Steve Turano, welcome to this episode of body performance. People have been writing me asking me about heart rate monitors should they buy one and what if I elevate my heart rate too much? What is a good heart rate?
Let me say this, do not buy a heart rate monitor it is a waste of time. And the second thing is this I hardly think that all the people who are doing cardio in the gym are elevating their heart rate too much, that is the last thing I think happening, oh people are doing too much cardio and doing it too hard.
Even if you were elevating your heart to the point where you were not burning as much fat, how long could you keep that pace up? 15 seconds, 20 seconds, now what happens? You can not keep that pace up, you run out of oxygen and you slow down a little bit then your heart rate returns to normal and everything is fine. So do not worry so much about measuring your heart rate, doing this all the time or exercising too hard thinking your heart rate might be so fast you are not going to burn so much fat.
As a matter of fact, if you exercise too hard that would be a good thing. You see the extra stress on the heart and the cardiovascular system will get you into much better shape, allowing you to exercise at greater levels as the weeks go by. Allowing you to burn extra fat without getting out of breath. How is that for an idea? Love your body.
