Acer Aspire One D250 Review
Hi I’m Justine with TopTenReviews here with our review of the Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook. Visually, the D250 is a sleek and slender machine. It’s simple, elegant and includes the standard Netbook components; an Intel Atom N270 1.6 Gigahertz processor, 1Gigabyte of memory, 160 Gigabytes Hard Disk Drive and Integrated Intel Audio and Video solutions.
The unit is sturdy and carries like a small college textbook, maybe lighter and certainly more sheik.
Upon opening the Netbook, you’ll find a Power button, some LED lid indicator lights, Keyboard and Track Pad. The bottom provides access to the unit’s memory, Hard disk drive, and wireless cards. At 10.1-inches, the screen is enough room for most applications. Should any application require a resolution of 1024x768 or higher? This application may have the top and or bottom cut-off from view if able to be --.
The D250’s Keyboard has been slightly miniaturized to 89% of a full-sized Keyboard. Additionally, the tactile feedback of the keys leaves a little to be desired. We also saw room for improvement regarding the touch pad’s size. Although it supports Multi-gesture commands similar to an iPhone, it is so small that gestures are difficult to execute on the limited real estate.
The D250 connectivity features round up the usual suspects; three USB 2.0 Ports, S-VGA, Microphone, Headphone Ethernet and AC Adapter. This model also includes a Memory Card reader that supports MMC, MS, MS PRO, and SD expandable memory cards.
Lastly, you’ll find a security lock and a Wireless On/Off Switch. Like all Netbooks, the Acer Aspire D250 was designed to do the most common of tasks and not much more that is to browse the Web, Send or Receive Email, listen to your audio play list, watch standard definition video either streamed or play it from the hard drive, Word Processing. Manipulating Spreadsheets and preparing presentations.
While all these are possible, the latter two may prove difficult on the limited screen size and resolution. At first glance the Acer Aspire One D250 Netbook is extremely ordinary with a little extra thought in care given to design its style.
Looking further however, it is very extraordinary once you consider the price tag. Pick-up these three-celled version that should last you nearly 2.5 hours for a mere $300, or pick-up it's nine cell equivalent for $50 more or $350.
