This is a video review of the Acer X960 one of the first attempts of the company that the work active phone market. So with success is of utmost importance to the manufacturer more or less because the most that will form their opinion of Acer and its capability as a handset manufacturer based on what the phone offer.
First impressions tend to last, don’t they? The Acer X960 looks similarly to any standard business phone in terms of overall design. It seems the manufacturer was only willing to take any unnecessary chances. Still the device looks appealing as opposed to pleasing 2.8-inch touch-sensitive screen with the VGA resolution.
Unfortunately, directs in light renders it virtually unusable. The center and end buttons, GPS and home keys as well as the navigational D-pad are below the display. Voice note and volume rocker buttons are on its left hand side while the power on and off key camera shutter and the MicroSD card slot are on the opposite. The latter can only accessed by removing the back panel which we’ll find is fun and peculiar facing. It is the first time the new Acer Shell interface has split in appearance and to we’re glad to finally see it in real life.
Basically, it will never stand different home screens that can be switch between by sliding your finger upwards or downwards across the screen. The one that is more thrilling by far is the 3D office screen. It is divided into three parts and separate objects starting different applications can be placed on the wall, desk or shelf plus other object can be rearranged in the three dimensions of your virtual office space. So you can personalize everything to your own taste.
There is an additional option to hide any object you don’t use. Pressing against the window takes you to the weather forecast screen while tapping onto the letter gets you to a pleasantly designed message inbox. You will easily find both the audio player and the favorite context applications among the personalized objects where at least with the Acer Shell interface indeed. It is extremely functional and you would rarely need to leave it to dive deeper into the unfathomable depths of the standard Windows Mobile menus.
We were able to play MP4 H264 coded videos on the preloaded windows media player which is usually not the case with this particular player. DiVX content was usable even if just barely since playing videos with resolutions greater than 320x240 pixels goes ahead as tethering. The Acer X960 is a decent Smart Phone that delivers the newer Acer Shell interface with proper personalization and to be link overall look.
Similarly to other Smart Phone devices the camera cannot be called a great performer but at least it is usable. As a whole the four sports are pleasing personable design and in-call quality is satisfactory. We were able to hear people on the other end clearly, although they seemed to have gripes with call quality on their own. If you need any of them, Windows Mobile powered Smartphone we do recommend the Acer X960.
