Val: Hi! I am Val from Virginia, and I wanted to know if touching my face a lot causes acne? Susan Rabizadeh: Val, I get this question often. In fact, you are absolutely right. Touching your face a lot can worsen your acne. And it's because of a number of different things. First, the oils that we carry on our hands, in addition to the bacteria, can worsen acne. And even just pressure on your face. For example, from holding your head while you are studying, or watching TV, or pressing the phone receiver on your cheeks, will actually worsen the acne in those areas. So we do recommend for patients who do suffer from acne to try not to touch their face that often.
