Gord: I am here with Sheena Adams from Urban Greenery. Now Sheena, you are a bit of a Heucheran nut if I am not mistaken, are you not?
Sheena: Yes, this year I have taken on Heucherans as my plant to collect.
Gord: Yes, and you got a great collection here. I know it is only a portion of your collection but can we go over some of the neat varieties of Heucherans because there really is some cool stuff.
Sheena: Absolutely, there is a wonderful selection of Heuchera and this is a small selection of what I have, it is my favorite. Heucheras of course are perennials but they are evergreen or ever burgundy or ever peach this year. Yes, there is some new peach ones out, they can grow in full sign, part shade or full shade. So, they are very versatile and as the season gets cooler, their colors even get more vibrant.
Gord: Oh, really?
Sheena: Yes, so I am really looking forward to my new peach ones this winter. I know they are going to add total drama to my containers in my garden.
Gord: Drama, drama to my gardens.
Sheena: Yes, drama, drama, Yes! So, the interesting thing about heucheras is a lot of them look similar but they are all a little bit different and I have spent a lot of time this spring focusing on what is different about each one because I find them quite fascinating. They are growing further fully and they all do get us you know, very inconspicuous flower but one the less they do flower. So, I got a couple over here, they are my favorites.
Gord: Okay, let us start here.
Sheena: This is my newest one, the Obsidian.
Gord: Yes, I love, look how it just shin, the shin velvety.
Sheena: It is stunning and it is brand new this year, It gets yellow flowers. It is the only heuchera with a yellow flower. So, the flowers will come off to the top. It is beautiful, it is dark, it is the blackest for me heuchera available.
Gord: Wow.
Sheena: Yes, so that one got me excited. This one here is huechera cones and curls, because see, it is very curly, it is very tight and it is very small. It is not as loose for me as you have seen obsidian but rather take in compact. So, over here, I got a little collection, the other less heuchera I choose them, I picked up this year is right here and is called Lime Rickey.
Gord: Okay.
Sheena: It is very small. You can see how incredibly small but it is. It is a new introduction. I am looking forward to see how it performs but you cannot pass up a sharp a to supra.
Gord: Yes, no that is very nice, that is very nice.
Sheena: Yes, and I hear that there is many more Heucheras to come to come. So, I am looking forward to increasing my collection.
