Less than two weeks after Adele took six grammys in America, the singer makes a different headline in Britain. Adele came back home for the Brit Awards, the British equivalent to the Grammys. E News picks up the story from there.
“Adele brings the house down with her soulful rendition of Rolling in the Deep. ‘We could have had it all. Rolling in the deep.’”
But after the rendition- things got a little testy. During her acceptance speech for Best British Album--host James Corden---cut her off. See for yourself .
James Corden: “I’m so sorry, and I can’t believe I’m about to cut you off.”
Adele: “You’re about to cut me off. Can I just say then, Goodbye, and I’ll see you next time around.”
Adele flips the bird to the people below her. Adele says she was flipping off the men in the suits or the people involved with the show, not her fans. The show had reportedly run out of time, so producers---had to cut her off.
Afterwards the Brit Awards said, “We regret this happened and we send our deepest apologies to Adele that her big moment was cut short...We don’t want this to undermine her incredible achievement in winning our night’s biggest award...”
That wasn’t the only apology. The British equivalent to the FCC even apologized to Adele. The apologies have some American outlets poking fun at the British. For instance---what if Adele flipped off Americans?
“They equated it to the Queen being cut short during her Christmas address. I know they let her get away with the bird! We’re not used to that over here in America. Adele you do that here in America, you’d have to make an apology while being flogged in Times Square.”
The British pop group Blur performed after Adele--- the reason Corden had to cut her off. HLN blames the producers of the show, saying they should have cut off previous speeches.
Robin Meade: “But come on, I mean that’s bad producing. Why didn’t they rap up the people yammering on before her, knowing that Adele was coming up, ya know?”
Not only did Adele win Best British Album, she also won Best British Female Artist. After the awards, Adele said, “Sorry if I offended anyone, but the suits offended me.”
