Now the frame blending option, we can activate it at this point in time because we are not going to be using it for any specific purpose. But the next option across we can and this is “Motion Blur”.
Now, to make the stand out a little better. What we will do is activate the solo option purely for the three silhouette. So layer number 2 here, I'm going to click and drag down just those three layers to isolate them but because our composition has a black background layer. We very quickly we want to change that.
Let us press “shift command B” or “Shift+Ctrl+B” on the PC to again bring up the background color option and we quickly get the eyedropper tool and come outside. And by all means pick up one of the lighter grays or even the white that we see again over here and the effects, and presets, and say okay to change that.
So, now we can see the silhouette a little bit more easily, just going to scroll over here for a second. We then going to hit the home key to take out time cursor all the way back to the beginning and then just hit the space bar, so we can play back the animation.
Now, you can see that these layers I have already pre-animated them for you. Now, we go over key frame animation later on but these are just been sent to have some kind of motions; so, we can see what is going on.
Now, these are moving fairly fast, it would be nice if they have a small amount of blur applied to them. Well, this is where motion blur becomes an option and your animations all of sudden become that more realistic.
I'm just going to hit the spacebar or click to cancel out the play back. But if we come down to the timeline now and for these three layers. Let us click and drag here and the motion blur colon, to turn on motion blur for the three on them.
Now at this point, if we hit the spacebar again and keep playing, it does not look any different to what we had before. Well, this is another switch that requires a composition switch to turn it on, just like the shy option.
Again, let us just hit the spacebar to cancel playback. Remember we came up here to turn on the shy layers in order to activate them or here is a master comp motion blur option turning that will activate motion blur wherever it is been applied to a layer here in the timeline.
So now when you hit the spacebar, you will notice that immediately slows down. It has to calculate much more information but the thing is that these layers are moving slowly. So, there is not really that much motion blur we can actually see.
Well, instead of changing the animations so they are moving really fast just so you can see motion blur. We can actually go back to our composition settings and change the amount of amount of motion blur to still apply it to slow moving object such as this.
Now, if you remember we did this earlier on, “Command K” or “CTRL+K” will bring up the composition settings dialog box and if we click on the advance tab at the top here. We can see the existing shutter angle. The amount of time to offer effects effectively keeps the shutter open to render motion blur, we can extend that.
The Defo is a 180. You can actually take that up to a maximum of 720. Let us give a try, just key in 720, say “OK”, and now you can see that because after effects is basically photographing each frame for a longer time. It is able to pick more motion blur.
So now, if you just hit the spacebar. You can see that the layer is moving around and the blur is completely controlled by their position and there scale and their rotation. So, it moves according to where they move. all you simply going to do is turn the option on.
Now, these really does at reality to the scene but as you can see, it does also slows down rendering times. That is really why the composition button is here. You do want to make sure that these layers are going to render with motion blur turn on. But turning this option of here will at least disable it in the composition window. So, we can still preview quickly but at final render time, we still get our motion blur.
