Now, you have already seen that in the lower left hand side of the composition window there is this area that shows you the current preview size you are looking at. If you go ahead and click on that.
It is a drop down menu with all of the other options that you can choose and you it is possible to go out to the maximum of 6400 percent on certain size compositions. That is extremely close pixel detail.
But at the top here, we have two new options. Previously enough to effects you, if only you have now to reset basically back to 100% but you can now choose two different options. If you go ahead and choose the fit up to 100% value in this case, one thing will happen.
After effects rescales the size of the graphics in the composition window and also show us the current value. Currently says 63.9% but you will notice, it has parenthesis around it. This tells us that we are viewing a scalable size.
If you go ahead and drag underneath the comp window here to scale the size of the comp window. Have a look at what happens to the footage. It will scale up and you will see the value is constantly changing there as you go up and down accordingly. And that is because we have got it set to fit automatically.
But what is the 100% mean? Well, unless you will enlarge the window to a certain size you would not really see it reach a 100%. But a quick way to do it, is to use a unusual current side of after effects which is the tilde key.
Now, if you do not know where the tilde key is on the upper left hand side of your keyboard. It is under the Escape key and just to the left of the number one. It got a small squeal in the top and the grow of accent on the lower left hand side. That is the tilde key.
If you have your cursor hovering in any window. Who we not just talking about composition here but we will try this is star with if we have our cursor anywhere here and hit the tilde key. You see that the window zooms up and fills the entire interface.
Now, this is where we currently viewing 100%. After effects is max out the preview of this particular graphic to 100%, its still in parenthesis but that is because we told it to fit up to the maximum size of 100% only.
Now, if we hit the tilde key and drop back down again. We go back to the original interface. Let us switch across to discreet composition. This is the high definition one that we saw a second ago.
And once again, this has a parenthesis value that does suggest this being toll to fit. But this one is not fitting up to a 100%. This is actually fitting to any size that you enlarge this composition window two.
So, again with the cursor in here for we quickly maximize by using the tilde key. You can see that because of the resolution we are shooting at, we only see this one enlarge to up 82.8%.
However, let us give it a try again on the other file. Jump back to the intro clip viewer, come down here and choose the fit option. Nothing visually changes at this point but now when we go full screen by hitting the tilde key.
You can see that this is now fitting a much larger area. In fact, it is going up to 110% and if you are working on a larger monitor, this comp will just continue to expand in its preview size to fit the size of your interface.
So, there is two options there you can play with depending on the size of footage that you have and how big you want to be able to see things. But what will do is just drop ourselves back down to the interface again with the tilde key.
And then, I will show you a way that we can actually view composition side by side. Because remember at the moment, we always flicking back and forth between this different view as we see at the top or we can go to the viewer menu here and choose a different composition in the current viewer.
