Now, that is the really the first and easy to create composition that is from scratch but it is also possible to create compositions from footage items that already exist inside the project window.
What will do is we will roll down this folder that we have here, video and audio, just drop that down and we have some of the art bits digital video clips that we have imported earlier on.
And what we are going to do is take this one right here. AB Ultrawater.mov. Just have that selected for a second and if you look down at the bottom of the composition window, you will see a small icon which looks exactly the same as this icon.
This is the new after effects seven composition icon. If you where to click on that, it would actually bring up the same dialog box we saw our second to go. This is another way to create a new comp from scratch. However, if you cancel this out, take the video clip that we have got and make a note here.
We are actually working 720 x 486 D1 resolution. We have rectangular pixels. We have a certain duration and a frame rate. If we want the composition that is exactly matches those specifications. We do not have to make a note with them and then key them in manually.
All you have to do is to take video clip itself and drag it down onto that new composition icon. After effects takes care of the rest. It is immediately created a brand new compo, you can see in the part of the window. The compose open, the clip is already in the timeline and the timeline is the exact length and duration of the original video clip.
So, a very quick way to drop something in for rendering and creating a new project. Now, if you just undo that for a second, press command Z or control Z on the PC. Let us try something different by dragging multiple video clips onto the new composition icon down here.
Let us come up and select the AB Digital Moods movie, got to hold down the command key or the control key on PC and click on Digital Web, and also Virtual insanity. So, we are selecting three video clips here and these two are actually contain the same pixel size.
But if we now drag them down onto this icon, we get a completely different dialog box. Because we have try to multiple clips on to it. It is going to ask you, if do you wish to create a single composition which contains all three clips arrange in layers and the timeline or would you like to create multiple compositions; so, comp per clip. Each one the exact size and duration of the clips. And you also have another option down here that allows you to add them to the Render Queue.
Now, we have not really touch on this yet but the Render Queue is the place through which you render your movie as a finish item. Let say you have a serious of video clips here that have been imported at lowest quality and we actually want to do a very quick render up and down to low resolutions.
You can have someone approve them or use them very quickly as place holders in your animation. This is a quick way to do it. It is going to generate new comps, you can add them immediately to the Render Queue and if we said okay. We could go across and hit the Render button that we have come up and we have to render us immediately of these movies using a different compression if we were to choose it.
Now, we are now going to do this but I did want to point them out to you, it is very, very handy option. Go ahead and hit cancel just to exit that dialog box for a second because what we are going to do next is bring in still items.
