I a m just going to press Alt+Tab or Command+Tab on the Mac. We will jump back across into After Effects once more. And the next thing we want to do is organize this footage a little bit better. Instead of having a project window that is very, very long with many hundreds of clips potentially that we could bring in to here, the easy way to organize everything is to use folders.
Now you have seen there is a folder here at the top. I already created it inside this for you. The folder is a very easy to create simply by coming down here to the bottom of the project window and clicking on the new folder icon. As soon as you select that, you will notice that it has been created inside the previous folder that I had selected, so that is actually something to watch out for and if you do not intend to do that which we do not really want to at this point in time. You can simply hit escape so you come out of the text field for that folder and then just pres Ctrl+Z or Command+Z on the Mac to undo that.
Now I am just going to twirl this folder back up at the top and make sure it is still not selected. Once again come down to the new folder icon at the bottom and there we have a new folder that we are going to name “Illustrator files” just hit return or Enter when you are done to confirm the name, and now we can take this street title illustrator file here at the bottom and simply drag it up in to the illustrator files folder.
If you twirl that down, you can see that that file has now been moved. Now depending on the amount of footage you have, it can be quite a slow process to create new folders each time and then drag one by one, or shift drag multiple files into that folder. There is actually a quicker way to do it.
Let us go ahead and select these Photoshop files. I am going to click first on climbing.psd, I am going to hold down the shift key and then click on the final one, tallthreesilhouettes.psd and that will select all of those. And now I am going to drag those down on to the new folder icon. This does two things. It creates a brand new folder for you ready to name but more importantly has already put all the Photoshop files inside it, so a very quick way to do that.
Now I am just going to quickly rename this “Photoshop files” and again hit return or enter. Again you can see inside there are the files automatically done. So let us quickly do the same here for our movies and we could do the audio as well. So just select the first video clip here additional moods, hold down the shift key and click all the way down to the bottom so we have every piece of video and audio selected. Once again, drag down on to the folder icon to create a new folder and we will simply rename this one “video and audio”.
