Now next to that, you also have the ability to view the individual color channels of a particular animation. So, if you click and hold on this. This is actually very different as well from previous versions of after effects.
We can come in here and choose just to view say the red channel which does give us an indication of red because the view has all got this red highlight around the outside. And you also notice the icon has just change, shows a small red circle.
And sometimes, it is handy to also see the channel information in its actual color. So, if you go back in now, you will notice that right at the bottom of the list there is a new colorized function. That will actually display the red green channels in that actually color. So, you can jump back and forth between them at anytime just looking at the green channel.
Again, all of them will change and go down to the blue channel, we see again the color that makes it up. But I am going to go ahead and turn off colorized for just one second. And one more thing you see under there is the ability to show an alpha channel.
Now, I am going to change this back to RGB because we do not actually have any alpha channels in this file. So, what will do, just press these the tilde key again to reduce all the way back so we can see our entire interface. And then, let us come over to the project window and open up the Americon’s project we are working on little while ago.
Now remember, the whole locking the view function is very useful in this case. We have four views very much customized now to what we are looking at on this comp. Because this is unlock we stand the danger of opening inside this one possibly replicating another four views for it.
If we go ahead and lock this one just to be on the safe side. Then when we come over here and double click on the Americons compositions. It will at least open a brand new composition view over here and they are automatically applied over the top.
Now again, we can quickly zoom up on this one just by holding down the tilde key and we can see that we have four views by all means go down to the bottom and reset these particular view adjust to one view on its own. But if we come down here now to the RGB channels icon, we can go and look at the alpha channel and it does not look any different at all.
The alpha channels are always displayed as black and white or grays if they are varying levels of transparency. This animation was actually made up of solid white layers on a blank background. So, we are actually seeing exactly the same thing. But it is a true alpha channel.
Another way to see it is to use a different icon, if we go back to RGB. We can come across here and click on the transparency icon. That gives you a better idea of where the actual alpha channel fourth, the white information is full opacity.
Everything we see with the checkered board is completely transparent. So, when we put this composition on top of another one, we will see the other composition in this area here.
So, depending on the footage you have on the white is made up. Sometimes you might need to view the transparency grid, sometimes you may need to come over here and look at the alpha channel.
