Hello everyone and welcome to Total Training for Adobe After Effects 7 the Essentials. I am Steve Homes, Creative Director of Energy Design in San Francisco and I will be taking you on a wonderful journey in to the incredible motion graphics animation tool that is After Effects.
Coming from a background in design, typography and animation, and having used this program now for over eight years to design, create and animate graphics for everything from television and the web, to motion picture titles and special effects, I can tell you that you are going to love the power and flexibility that After Effects offers you and the incredible results you can achieve.
Now I will be honest, it is not a simple program. And instead of just jumping right in and dissecting the various pallets and windows, let us spend a little time getting to see what the program is capable of in something I like to call the “Grand Tour”.
I have a title animation to create for a fictitious television program, and a deadline within which to do it, and it is going to require a good selection of the features and tools that After Effects offers. Now this will give you the perfect introduction to the program if you have never used it before, and even if you have it is a really fun way to begin this series.
Now this lesson is not intended to be a follow along. Although I have included the source files for you to play with if you like. But for now, I would recommend that you just sit back and relax, and see how a cool complex After Effects project comes together.
