Now the next thing we want to do is bring some type into this, we are not going to generate it from scratch, we'll actually import it from a Word document. So go ahead and double-click on that text frame to activate the Type Tool again, you don't always have to switch back and forth, and then let's use the brand new Place command that we changed earlier on in our keyboard shortcut, that was Shift+Command+P on the Mac or Shift+Ctrl+P on the PC.
Again it will bring out the Adobe dialog, just going to go across to the desktop, locate the project files for Creative Suite 2 over here, and then inside there you will see a Word Files folder. Go ahead and open that, you will see three separate Word Files in there. We want to select the very first one, Brochure Intro, this is only the intro page for this particular document. Then double-click it at this point, I want you to select it because we have an option we can specify here to make the import and reformatting of this much easier.
If you look in the lower left side of the dialog, there is a button called Show Import Options. Now if you turn that on, it will always remain on, to everything that you import, every time we bring in Photoshop file, an Illustrator file, a Word file, an Excel file, any type of format, it's always going to bring out the import options.
Now watch that, it's great to have them and choose different things, can get quite frustrating if it appears every single time even when you don't need it. So let's try this instead, turn off the Show Import Option, document is still highlighted, instead hold down the Shift key and then click the Open button. The Shift key will temporarily turn on the import options and bring up the dialog box only for this time. Next time we go back to it, the button will still be turned off, so great little shortcut there.
Now the Import Options that appear here gives us the ability to either remove all of the formatting from the Word document which a lot of time is a good thing, but you can also preserve their style sheets and import and reformat them using InDesign style sheets. Now we are going to look at that a little bit later on, we are just going to go for the very easy option here which is Remove Styles and Formatting from any Text and Tables.
So we are literally stripping it down to the bear bones. Now once you have chosen that, go ahead and click OK, and you will now see the type placed into that text frame.
