Alright, now, what we are going to do is we are going to masks out the area of our background. So, what we are going to do next is create a circle that is both going to be the background for our pyramid and is also going to serve as the mask to let us cut out just a circular area of the artwork.
So, in order to do this, we are going to need to create some additional layers. So, come over to the right to the layers pallet. If it is not visible for any reason, come up to your window menu and then come down to layers. If it is unchecked, go ahead and select it and that will reveal the layers pallet.
So, as you can see, we have a single layer called layer one. We are now going to put a layer beneath it where we are going to draw our background, so come down to the bottom of the layers pallet to the new layer button and click it. By default, it puts our new layer on top of our main layer, so let us come here to layer 2 here in the layers pallet and click and drag it down below layer one and there we are.
Now, at this point, we do not want to accidentally disturb the artwork in layer one. So, let us go ahead and lock that layer. Let us go ahead and click here in the check box for layer one and as you can see, a little lock icon appears indicating that this layer is now locked. That is great. So make sure your layer two is the active layer by clicking it once and now let us come over to the left to our drawing tools.
So, we want to bring out the circle tool, by default, if you look right here, the rectangle tool is revealed here in the toolbox. Go ahead and click and hold your mouse button down over it and now you will see the other shapes appear here to the right. So, let this mouse over to the right until we are over the circle otherwise known as the ellipse tool and go ahead and release and now, you can see that is the currently selected tool.
So, let us go ahead and give the background a specific color, let us make it a sort of sky blue color. So in order to that, let us come down here to our fill and stroke colors, double click on the swatch for fill and we are on a pretty good spot right here. I might want to drag this up a little bit, maybe a little bit off to the right. And if you want to match my settings, set R to 133, G to 183 and then B to 232, and those are red, green and blue respectively. Or you can just get it in the ball park. It really does not matter at this point.
So, once you have the color you are happy with, go ahead and click Okay. And now, let us go ahead and draw out our circles. So, let us position our curser just to the bottom of the tip of the pyramid, maybe off to the right a little bit and what I would like you to do is hold down both your Alt key and your Shift key at the same time and now let us click and drag out down into the right.
So, what the Alt key does is it draws the circle out from the center point, and what the Shift key does is it constrains it to be a perfect circle. So, that looks pretty good to me, just like that. You are should be around the same area if it is not perfectly like mine, do not worry, it is okay, and then go ahead and release your mouse button, and now you can see our beautiful blue background, excellent.
