Try to get the book : Bass-Fitness-Exercis ing by Josquin-Pres. It will help to increase your finger speed. The lessons in there are very cool. I use this myself and I like it.

ur finger positioning technique on the strings is incorrect. Plus, it's actually a basic blues progression, not jazz. Yep, it also leaves out the ring finger if u do it the way u do. it looks like u do not hav any teacher. It's true u can be really gud without one, but i suggest u do c a teacher at least for the basic tech.

first exersice: you use all fingers. youe lessons leaves out ring-finger....hmmm. ..more control...well maybe not. Instead of boogie woogie'ing you could use scales min/maj to train all fingers. - john

Hey there, my name is Ron and I want to show you a few basic exercises that done and great deal of help. These are cute little exercises that you can do instead of going like (bass guitar strumming) which is very important, you can do this and eventually you will increase in your speed and control over the fret board but it is boring.

So, what I would like to do is this, you can slide it from any fret on the fret board on the E string and the A string. I am going to start from the third fret like this, third fret E string (bass guitar strumming), second fret A string (bass guitar strumming), fifth fret A string (bass guitar strumming), second fret E string (bass guitar strumming). And then, you go back in the same way you came and it sounds like this (bass guitar strumming). And you are done just like I did to the third fret; you will be going to (bass guitar strumming).

You can have also the fun with this. This is the first exercise that I used when I do this for about 20 minutes everyday. Very recommended and I hope you use this and this will increase your playing speed and control over the fret board. Nice playing!
