Hi! I am Johnny Lavoy and I am hair stylist with ford artist. I realized prom season is here and what I am going to do today is to give you a few ideas on how to make your prom extra special. Now, the look that I am going to do is inspired kind of prom like Alicia Keys and Leona Lewis. So, I am going to start off by living her texture pretty much awaited. I am just going to concentrate right now on smoothing out to front and I am going to do that with some heat. So, I am going to start by sectioning the hair, in barely in large sections, you just want to smooth out the texture, so that its looks a little more control. I am going to take the large iron and just sort of give the hair a bend and I am just trying to smooth it out a little bit.
This look is great for something like a prom or even any other special occasion, because you are going to have a little bit of fashion edge, which is still be neat enough that it can look pretty with something more formal. Hot tools are great, because they have a heat regulator on it. And so, if your hair is fine, you can turn the heat down a bit, but if you have thick hair and you want it to a get a little straighter, you just turn the dial up. So the next thing I am going to do is I am going to incorporate our extensions that we did, because I thought it might be fun to add a little color, a few highlights and also, a little length, because you wanted--you know it is prom you want to go a little blend. So, I am going of really concentrate the extensions in the back, though I am not going to be really be concern to much with the front. So, I am sectioning the hair from the top to right behind the ear, and I am just going to clip that out the way over to this side too.
So, once I have done that, I have this hair that I am going to give a little length and highlights too. And this is where all the fun come in, so I am going to section the hair right below the occipital bone, which I have gone over this before, but if you need to—the videos, the occipital bone is the bottom of the round of the heads. You know that your heads is round, right underneath that round, is called the occipital bone. And, I am just going to clip in an extension. I make my extension just by sewing these hair clips. And, what they do is they snap in and grip to the hair and then I just sew hair--that you can get in the beauty supply. I mix these, so that it is her color plus some highlight and I am just going to snap them in.
Okay, so after I have done that I am just going to take whatever hair is really so sticking out and I am going try to put the same curl in there. So, I an using the smaller iron again one from hot tools, is the great thing, because they do come in really small sizes, there is even smaller than this, so if you have a shorter hair it will work great.
I am just wrapping the hair around the curling iron barrel, just to get a wave in there. After I have done that, I am just going to take a brush and kind of brush out this curl and you can see how it starts to blend in with her natural hair. What I am going to do now is I am going to put the headband on, because I want to dress it up a little bit and add an element out control. So, what I am going to do is something for the front to smooth it and control it. So, I am just going to side part and it is starts to blend in the extensions with everything else. And then, I am going to take the product with some gloss in it, it is a silicon and I am really going to sort of shine that up, so that the hair looks healthy and I am going to go right behind the ear with that.
Again, I am going to clip, you see that looking like right now? So, just by using your hands some kind of scrunching it. You can start to get more definition and kind of mold the shape that you want. And then, that is where you want to start incorporating spray. You noticed that I did not put a lot of spray in the beginning, because you do not want it to appear really hard and crunchy. And, I am just going to take some pins, the big ones and the color that is similar to her hair and what I am doing, I am going to show you how these are going to go in. I kind of crisscrossing them, because when you crisscross the pins, they lock together and sort of act like an anchor, so you do not worry about some topping up throughout the night. So, after I have done that if you do not want pins to show, a quick fix for that is just to take a hairpin, just go on underneath and lift and stick it in there. Then we are going to incorporate our headband and it just makes a nice romantic look. Looks a lot like me on the host doesn’t she? And, that it is, so this is a quick easy prom do, if you feeling like Alicia Keys.
