Aliph Jawbone Bluetooth Headset Review
Tiffany Young: Hi there and welcome to Neo-Fight.TV – The Technology Show for the ‘Not-so-Geeky’. My name is Tiffany Young.
Ben Freedman: And I’m Ben Freedman and on the first section of the show today we are going to review this little thing before it’s going to get lost on the table here so it’s so black on black.
Tiffany Young: Right here.
Ben Freedman: There we go. Let us just put it this way. This is the brand new Jawbone headset, and I don’t know if you remember Tiff but we have reviewed the first version of this about a year ago and I really, really liked it and we’ve been taking a look at this and what are your impressions of it so far.
Tiffany Young: I love it. It’s tiny though the difference of that year ago if you remember it was big. I think it was twice the size.
Ben Freedman: It was you know quite a bit thicker yeah.
Tiffany Young: And it has the vibration here so I can sense when you’re talking, so it cuts off the other noise which is fantastic but look how little this is. I mean, for someone with a smaller face, smaller ears it works well.
Ben Freedman: Can you put it on?
Tiffany Young: Sure.
Ben Freedman: We can take a look on you.
Tiffany Young: Are you sure? Carry on.
Ben Freedman: And this is always a treat because Tiffany has very small ears and so it’s always a treat to get this. If this— can leave and go on her ears that may be the thing.
Tiffany Young: Perfect, you see.
Ben Freedman: It does look good on you yeah.
Tiffany Young: I mean except the only thing I would change about this is the color. I will do it new.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, they have a gold one and a silver one.
Tiffany Young: Oh, it has gold.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, I mean they have sent these all three.
Tiffany Young: Right, the black one.
Ben Freedman: They have a gold one, yeah.
Tiffany Young: Oh!
Ben Freedman: Yeah.
Tiffany Young: So, yeah it’s the color. I mean other than that it looks pretty good. I am half robot.
Ben Freedman: Yes, it looks very nice.
Tiffany Young: Let me and take me to your leader.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, there you go. It looks great. Now give it back. I love the one we had last year and I’ve got to tell you I’m not so keen on this one.
Tiffany Young: Why?
Ben Freedman: Well, I think it looks extremely gay.
Tiffany Young: Oh, you better take that back right now before you get some email.
Ben Freedman: Look how small this is. It’s a little too smaller and thin and then it has this little hair and bony pattern. The other one had like that little mesh on it and this one has this little feely pattern on it.
Tiffany Young: It’s more like a Wall Street kind of sooty type you know, accessory.
Ben Freedman: Wall Street. It’s more like gay street.
Tiffany Young: Oh my gosh, you better take that back before you get an email.
Ben Freedman: No, it’s true I’m not censoring myself because of the possible mail I can get. It does sound excellent. It does have different size of things and what Tiffany was talking about before is this little I don’t know if you can see it maybe you can zoom in on here.
This little sensor here that erased again to your cheek and when you are talking senses that vibration inside your cheek and it activates the mic phone when you stop talking it catch up the noise, so it’s a much more quiet much quit version but this has to be touching your cheek.
The other thing I didn’t like about it probably not a big issue is that the button is like the whole case, so like when you squeeze that right? That is the button the answer in hanging out and I found sometimes when I’m adjusting it I push that button so I’m talking to someone, talking, talking, talking. I want to adjust it because it’s falling out of my ears and click hanging apple. You didn’t have that problem.
Tiffany Young: No, next to that.
Ben Freedman: Because you have a pretty and much gently touch than I.
Tiffany Young: It’s all about technique and really you know it’s so.
Ben Freedman: So, they keep telling me.
Tiffany Young: His working on it.
Ben Freedman: Read in the books.
Tiffany Young: Now, I think it’s fantastic and no it just mostly for me just for a completely personal level I think it’s fantastic for people with smaller ears and smaller faces.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, I thought it was cool but even the ear loop is leather covered.
Tiffany Young: Even that gold.
Ben Freedman: I mean check that out.
Tiffany Young: And it’s really you feel it. The quality is fantastic.
Ben Freedman: It is. It’s very high quality.
Tiffany Young: Yeah, it’s made very well.
Ben Freedman: Little pricier than some headsets out there.
Tiffany Young: Well, I think the Jawbone has a good reputation. It’s kind of like you know Northzone versus Ross. You know we pay a little bit more for what you get.
Ben Freedman: Thanks about the shirt because I get it right, no I don’t get it right it’s JCPenney.
Tiffany Young: It’s JCPenney as well you have —interesting.
Ben Freedman: That’s where I shop.
Tiffany Young: Interesting you have a JCPenney anyway, I love this headset.
Ben Freedman: Yes.
Tiffany Young: It’s five out of five for me.
Ben Freedman: Holy crow five out of five for you.
Tiffany Young: Oh, it’s $129 by the way.
Ben Freedman: It is $129 yes, so it’s a little price that you can get headset it’s 34 to 50 bucks but I’ve got to tell you this one does cancel noise better than most of those.
Tiffany Young: Yeah.
Ben Freedman: Or all of those I’ve got.
Tiffany Young: I think —
Ben Freedman: The sound I think it’s the best one.
Tiffany Young: Like anything else if it works it does but what it has to do is worth the extra money. How much of time do you spend returning, getting frustrated, not using it throwing it and you know in your recycle bin.
Ben Freedman: I give it a three out of five.
Tiffany Young: Three out of five.
Ben Freedman: I think it’s very adequate but I think it does look a little more feminine than the old one especially if we go with gold and it also I don’t like the button where you’re —
Tiffany Young: It can make attracts it.
Ben Freedman: That’s right, that somewhere else, so it’s three out of five for me. Five out of five for Tiffany that is eight out of 10 for the Jawbone Bluetooth headset, a beautiful if slightly effeminate looking headset with a great sound.
Tiffany Young: And great range too.
Ben Freedman: Great range, yes this is indeed true and we’ll be back in just a second with another product spotlight so please stay tune, and we’re back in the second spotlight area today. We are going to be looking at these. These are the new speakers for from a Genius. These are the Genius touch speakers and great for CD Player, iPod, iPhone, computer. You can plug them onto computer.
Tiffany Young: As if you like the office. It’s good to have the office desk.
Ben Freedman: Yeah that’s right and they come with —let me turn this on.
Tiffany Young: This one that say patio.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, it comes with this —anything that you can plug one of these and it actually comes with a little adapter for your stereo to be right small little area like that. I have an iPod Nano here that I’m going to plug this into.
Tiffany Young: Oh, it matches.
Ben Freedman: You look green and green that’s true. It does indeed match, so what I’m going to do here is —let’s find a song. There we go and these speakers what makes some kind of cool is they are supposed to go with like touch dance to stuff like the iPod Touch or either things with a touch controls, they tough so Tiffany you see this power button down there if you touch that with your finger it should turn on here it is.
Tiffany Young: There we go.
Ben Freedman: Okay, and if you take a look it got this little LED panel over here and then this is a mute button.
Tiffany Young: I see a microwave.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, so here it is muted she is lashing turn that off it’s muted and then it’s got three controls your volume base in trouble by hitting there it will click and it goes the base travel and volume, so and you have discovered how to adjust the volume you swipe your finger up and down there. Now I have some trouble with this sometimes it would swipe see it’s not there it is.
Tiffany Young: There it goes.
Ben Freedman: It’s a little. It’s not quite sensitive enough or maybe my fingers are just too sensitive.
Tiffany Young: Yeah.
Ben Freedman: There you go. You’re making that work.
Tiffany Young: Yup.
Ben Freedman: Okay, let me turn this on and we can take to listen and see how it sounds, okay?
Tiffany Young: What is the music? Britney Spears.
Ben Freedman: Of course, the volume is pretty good.
Tiffany Young: Yeah, I was surprised.
Ben Freedman: We’ll good to the price.
Tiffany Young: What?
Ben Freedman: We’ll get there.
Tiffany Young: I need that for my brain so I can judge accurately.
Ben Freedman: Try hitting that mute switch and it’s quiet and now once again, see if you can adjust the volume.
Tiffany Young: What?
Ben Freedman: There you go.
Tiffany Young: See it’s a one way motion obviously.
Ben Freedman: Let’s do go down and when you want to turn it the volume up it will go away.
Tiffany Young: Yeah, of course.
Ben Freedman: It’s working better for you then what’s for me that’s good. A DJ trip over here. At $99.00 these are.
Tiffany Young: Not so bad.
Ben Freedman: And I thought these sounded pretty decent. What do you think?
Tiffany Young: Yeah, they are some pretty good and mostly because this is such a huge studio they have to be good in order to even think they are sort of good.
Ben Freedman: Yeah.
Tiffany Young: Because there’s so much sound to fill here.
Ben Freedman: And for non-subwoofer speakers they actually have more bass.
Tiffany Young: If they come with a good warranty you know a good warranty on this and for $99.00 not bad.
Ben Freedman: I don’t know wrong to get in.
Tiffany Young: It probably comes with the remote I’m sure, right.
Ben Freedman: No remote.
Tiffany Young: What?
Ben Freedman: No remote.
Tiffany Young: No remote.
Ben Freedman: No remote for 99 bucks you want a remote.
Tiffany Young: Well, it shows that you wanted to show something you know.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, no remote. They don’t come with a remote.
Tiffany Young: It’s only $99.00
Ben Freedman: I see points being dock here all of a sudden. My only issue with this well I have a little bit of issue that is difficult to touch sometimes. I’m like setting the tuner and adjust the volume and it takes a two or three swipes. They also don’t write left and right on the speakers, so I had trouble figuring out which one is left and which one is right.
Now, some people say why do you really care. It doesn’t really matter so much for music but if you are watching like Tough Gun.
Tiffany Young: Right.
Ben Freedman: You don’t want to play and goes flies this way you want the sound of the playing you know, this jet. You don’t want to sound to be going this way while they are playing Go Now so it’s left and right matter.
Tiffany Young: Is it the right one always the mean one? Is that the rule of thumb?
Ben Freedman: Is it the rule of thumb?
Tiffany Young: I don’t know.
Ben Freedman: I don’t judge right now. Even now I don’t know which one is left and which one is right?
Tiffany Young: And this is right in his thoughts.
Ben Freedman: Not because it is just sitting there, okay.
Tiffany Young: I thought it’s always at the main speaker is the right speaker.
Ben Freedman: Do you know I mean if you know is that true please send us comment because I am very interested. What do you think Tiff?
Tiffany Young: No, except for their modes and that being wireless.
Ben Freedman: Wireless?
Tiffany Young: I know sib-woofer. What?
Ben Freedman: You want it wireless?
Tiffany Young: Of course I do. I’ve been —can see what has been spoiled. Anyway, pricing wise is okay. Sound wise pretty good not at 10 for me or even five for that matter so I will give it a three can’t it be three and a half.
Ben Freedman: No, you cannot give it three and a half. Introduce please.
Tiffany Young: These are breaking the rules.
Ben Freedman: I would say I am going also to give it a three and for me it’s no left and right written on the speaker or the ones you figure out that you know or maybe they are old right to the dominant I don’t know and I found it little hard to touch the button. Let me turn this on, a little hard to touch the controls. They work and with just two to three swipes sometimes.
Tiffany Young: Let’s have a headset.
Ben Freedman: A headphone there.
Tiffany Young: I mean what’s this for? Right here.
Ben Freedman: That is a line for another input, so you can put a second input in and if you want to put a headphone and you can.
Tiffany Young: Okay.
Ben Freedman: Although—yeah so there’s little input on the side there. Good point in measuring there out of that, so yeah three out of five the touchy stuff is fine but I think the sound is great I think of 99 bucks it’s a really good sound. I think it’s great for computers. It’s really good if you need to set a computer speaker because they are nice and small.
Tiffany Young: Yeah that’s true I agree.
Ben Freedman: Really good for PCs I was watching a movie with Lisa the other side is great, so it’s three out of five for Tiffany, three out of five for me that is six out of 10 for the Genius Touch Speakers.
Tiffany Young: I have a calculator on my purse.
Ben Freedman: Yeah, I have seen it okay, carry the one. Six out of 10 for the Genius Touch Speakers, great little speakers for iPod or I think they are great for a computer.
That’s all the time we have this week. Let us know what you think send us a comment at www.neo-fight.tv.
Tiffany Young: And the right side dominated yes or no.
Ben Freedman: Yes, is the right always the dominated?
Tiffany Young: Is it in my mind or is that true, okay.
Ben Freedman: I don’t know and if you happen to have an extra 30 seconds take a look at this.
