Shray: Welcome to watchmojo.com.
Leslie: I’m Leslie.
Shray: I am Shray and this is another edition of Sidekick Dropkick.
Leslie: Our segment today is called—should I stay or should I go? We are going to discuss the benefits or potential downfalls of living or staying with a cheating stuff.
Shray: You know, because it brings them down to our level, the media loves to dwell on unfaithful celebrities and all the heartbreak and home wreck that their leaving in the wake of their actions.
Leslie: A great example in the media is Donald Trump. When he famously cheated on his first wife Ivana with Marla Maples, Ivana said I want a divorce and $25 million dollars.
Shray: And when Tori Spelling decided to call a ‘quits’ with her first husband Charlie after a year of not so blissful wedlock, it was to take up with also married Dean McDermott.
Leslie: Now in a hilarious twist of fate, Tori is now futing with her mother Candy because she is been alleged that Candy had an affair while Patriarch Erin was dying.
Shrane: Now of course, it might not make her hypocritical based on critical of someone else’s infidelity. After all, there are differences between the two situations. For starters, Daddy was rich and Charlie wasn’t now. On top of all that, Tori’s Daddy is a little princess.
Leslie: Now we need to discuss the benefits of staying with the cheating spouse. I would ask are there any benefits?
Shray: Yes, I think there is a few. There is the money, there is the career, the reputation, the status, the power, the kids, the family and of course, the money. Of course in this day and age, we know a little bit better than to think that every successful marriage is built on a romantic fidelity.
Leslie: A widely publicized to count of infidelity came in the case of Frank and Kathie Lee Gifford. He cheated on her but she’s stock by his side.
Shray: Well of course, you know, everyone saw that one coming—who can stand Kathie for more than five minutes at a time.
Leslie: Okay, well then, there are other couples where you don’t really get expected to cheat. Posh and Beck for example—David Beckham and Posh Spice—are a royal media couple in Britain. She is hot and you wouldn’t necessarily think that he would cheat on her but he does and she just seems to ignore it.
Shray Yes, but, you know, Posh is stuck a little bit in between a rock and a hard place. If she is going to stay Posh, acknowledging it means that she is going to bend Beckham to the curve. And if she does that and it seems she is all out of spice, she won’t have much of a reason to be in the public eye anymore.
Leslie: It actually seems to get even worse on that. It was reported that after her last pregnancy, he ask her to have a C-section tummy tuck combo so that she would not come home with any baby fat.
Shray: I wonder how he would have felt if she came home with some baby spice.
Leslie: Sometimes, the spouse is just too ridiculous. And even if you want to, staying with that isn’t an option. If you want to save yourself respect, take for example Peter Cook. He recently cheated on Christie Brinkley with someone so young that she was younger than Brinkley’s own daughter Alexa, from her marriage to Billy Joel. Now, in the case like that, there is just nothing Christie could do but kick Peter to the curve.
Shray: Yes, but in some cases, there is nothing but game to be hide from sticking around with an unfaithful lover. Take Hillary and Bill. Bill have a very long track record of infidelity stretching way back to his days as governor and ever since the end of the second presidential term. He is kind of faded off into obscurity and Hillary’s career skyrocket. She basically swept the New York Senator’s seat without any contest and it is more or less of a foregone conclusion that is going to be one of the front runners in the 2008 presidential election candidacy for the Democratic Party.
Leslie: So, maybe we as a society just need to rethink what really does define a marriage?
Shray: You know, after all it is true by accepting someone’s imperfections and even their infidelity. You mig
