For lower eyelid surgery, an incision is made adjacent to the lower lashes. The surgeon lifts the skin and muscle and removes the small amount of fat. Excess skin and muscle are trimmed from the lower lid. If you have a pocket of fat below your lower eyelids without any loose skin, you maybe able to have a less invasive surgery which utilizes an incision inside the lower eyelid so, there is no visible scar.

Upper eyelid surgery involves making an incision across the natural eyelid fold. Excess skin and fatty tissue are removed along with a thin strip of muscle to give the eyelid crease more definition. This produces a wide eye open look that is more youthful.
