Male: Whether you are planning for yourself or just curious, here is what happens during liposuction.
Female: When you undergo liposuction, tiny incisions are made in the targeted area and a wetting solution is infused to provide anesthesia, reduce bleeding and improve fat extraction. The surgeon will use two instruments called cannula. This cannula are inserted under your skin and moved in a back and forth fashion within the fat pulling it to side while protecting your vessels and nerves. Your fat is suctioned out for holes at the tip of the cannula.
Surgery can be performed in your surgeon’s office under local anesthetic in one to three hours. A compression garment is usually worn after liposuction to reduce swelling and maximize skin contraction.
Most people can return to work or normal activities in as little as one week.
