Judy: I am Judy from San Diego. I was wondering do Alzheimer's patients get cold and pneumonia as often as other patients or more often? Erica Brownfield: Well Judy, patients of Alzheimer's disease are more susceptible to getting infections, especially later in the stages of Alzheimer's when they forget to eat, become malnourished, dehydrated. They also are more immobile as they don't get around as good as they used to. So yes they are more susceptible to getting infections and actually they commonly die from infections.
