Anna Gunn Interview Audra Lowe: Is currently one of TV’s sexiest women staring on AMC’s Emmy nominated series Breaking Bad. Anna Gunn plays the contemporary house wife Skyler White, the spouse of a key player in the Albuquerque drug trade and a mother of a teenage son who was born with cerebral palsy. That said, it’s just a matter of time before Anna’s going to break bad, take a look. Anna: You don’t live here anymore. We’re getting a divorce. Male: I don’t agree to it. Anna: Well it’s not up to you. If you don’t get out of here right now , I’m going to call the police and I’m going to tell them everything. Audra Lowe: Oh, divorce and police, not a good mix there. You're pretty angry, good to have you here Anna, many intense scenes there. As we mentioned, as Boston Globe said you’re one of the TV’s sexiest women. Would you consider these role as sexy in it’s own way? Anna: No, It’s funny, this season I think she is turning into a little bit of a sexier person. She is starting to really own her an identity a bi more. She’s breaking out of the role that she’s been in and I think that Skyler has felt a little bit invisible in her life at home and so now she’s going back to work. I’ve got my wardrobe changes, she’s got mush more of a sense of her femininity and putting out there a bit more and with all the trouble she’s having with Walt, her husband… Audra Lowe: And going through a lot too. How much of that do you internalize as a person, there’s the actor and then there’s the person. Is it tough to separate those? Anna: Sometimes it is, I mean I’ve gotten better at it because I have to go home to my two kids at night and so I have to really show if I have the table things but you know what, you can’t help at being a little bit of a sponge and sometimes you internalize that stuff a little bit and it does sip in. Audra Lowe: And speaking of your two daughters, how has the show, if it all, how is the show affected your parenting skills for the better, for the worst, has anything change at all? Anna: Well I think, it’s because I have to juggle a lot that I’m learning to get better at switching my hats, putting my mom hat on and just try and keep that focus when I’m with them and then I put my after hat on and do that when I’m working, so I try to get—I’m getting better I think. Audra Lowe: Make that clear separation there. The show tapes in at New Mexico which I read that’s where you’re from. You live in L.A. right now but you’re from New Mexico. What’s that like going back to the place that you grow up in? Anna: It’s amazing because I grew up in Santa Fe and we ‘re shooting at Albuquerque and my parents still live at Santa Fe, so it’s really nice to be back home and my home stay and I got to share all the good stuff I got to do as a kid with my kids. Audra Lowe: That’s great. Familiar territory, working television film, The Practice, Deadwood, ER, Seinfeld, enemy of the State, Nobody’s Baby, you got a long resume my friend Anna: I do. Audra Lowe: Do you prefer the small screen and the big screen does it matter to you? Anna: I like it all. I really do. I really love doing stage work too. I mean I really, you know, that’s where I started and I did a play again last year after 10 years off And it was really exciting. Audra Lowe: You have a serious theatrical background. It can be your education and where you started to. Do you think you’ll go back to that? Anna: I hope so. I like to do more stage work but probably when my kids are a little older. It’s kind of a tough schedule to handle when they’re little. Audra Lowe: All right, speaking of which, what is your schedule like right now? Anna: Right now, well we—when I’m filming in New Mexico, I’m basically in a plane every few days and I’m back and forth and my kids stay in L.A. because they are going to schools so there’s a lot of flying basically and there’s a lot of airports, a lots of planes but you know, I handle it. Audra Lowe: That’s great, do what you got to do. Strong woman, thank you so much for stopping by Anna congratulations on the show too.
