Cheryl Forberg: I’m Cheryl Forberg Author of Positively Ageless. If you are having
trouble making the right food choices because of all the nutrition messages
that are out there today, you are not alone. But just focusing on release
powerful foods can really take you on a big step in the right direction. One
of my favorite power foods is salmon and that’s because it’s rich in a anti
aging fat called Omega-3’s. Omege-3’s helped promote shinny hair,
strong nails and soft skin and if you have soft skin it minimizes the
appearance of fine lines. My second favorite power foods are blueberries,
this are loaded with antioxidants and there small size belies the fact that
they’re actually more than 300 plant chemicals in every little berry. They
are loaded with a pigment called anthocyanins which has three times the
bang of vitamin C and they also help to reduce free radical damage and
slow the aging process.
My third groups of favorite power foods are lean dairy products. This
includes yogurts, I really love the Greek style its extra high in protein, low
fat and fat free cheeses and fat free or low fat milk. Calcium is probably
one of the best benefits that we can get from dairy products which help us
to preserve our bone mass but it’s also really important to promote healthy
blood pressure levels. Another one of my favorite foods is green tea, it’s
not exactly a food but there are some creative ways that you use to cook
with it. It’s loaded with antioxidants; green tea has antibacterial and anti
fungal benefit and one of my favorite perks is that it has a little element in
it called EGCG and this allows you to have three or four cups a day
kicking up in your metabolism by about 80 calories, so I love that one.
And last but not least is red wine, red wine is probably been more studied
than any other food for a large group of plant chemicals called flavanoids
which help to improve our heart health. They help to minimize free radical
damage against the aging and perhaps my favorite reason is that it taste so
great.
