This would be wonderful advice for managers except that - as a "millenial" ; - it's a catch 22. If I communicate heavily and wait for responses, it can take months to get approval for a task that takes a mere hour to complete. If I attempt some autonomy and move forward, I'm branded as disregarding authority, young, and naive - even though the task is otherwise applauded for its own merits. Millenials have to be able to earn trust rather than be seen as the perpetual trainees of their managers. This can be difficult when the age gap is often the same as that between parent and child.
