Billy Parisi: Thanks for stopping by fixmyrecipe.com, Chef Billy Parisi here. Our fix goes to Pat of Chicago, Illinois, having a lot of trouble making this Apple Sauce Cake, don’t worry Pat, we got your cover right here.
Pat, you complain that your cake keeps coming up dry. I have some really cool solutions that’s going to help you with this. Let’s get everything prepped up and start creaming our butter and sugar. Pat, now we’re going to add in some more ingredients. We’re going to replace four ounces of applesauce with four ounces of yogurt, this is going to ensure that our cakes taste nice and moist.
Don’t forget to make sure that our wet ingredients are really nice and combined, now we’re going to add in our sifting flour and a pinch of salt. While everything is mixing, we’re going to add in some baking soda to some really hot water, just simply mix it together and see it, it’s nice and foamy there. Then we’re going to add it right to our mixture.
Pat, another really cool trick to ensure that this cake is nice and moist; we’re going to drizzle in a little bit of vegetable oil. Pat, everything has come together so nicely, don’t forget to grease and flour up our pan, put our batter in, we’re going to hit it in the oven at 325 degrees. Come back and visit it in about an hour.
Alright, Pat here we go, it’s been in the oven for about an hour, it looks nice, we’re going to let it cool for a couple of minutes, take a slice and see how perfectly nice and moist it really is. Pat, all the flavor you need and it’s perfectly moist, try using that yogurt and drizzle in that vegetable oil.
Pat, thank you so much for writing this in. I’ve never made this before, I’ve never had it, but I am really glad you did because it’s really, really good. Come back tomorrow, see your new future fix of the day.
