Arcade Hoops Basketball is an iPhone and iPod Touch app that recreates the feel of those free throw basketball games we’ve all played. This game isn’t complex or anything, but it definitely is a great way to pass some time.
The game has two play modes for you to check out. The first is the classic game which puts 45 seconds on the clock and challenges you to get as many baskets as you possibly can. This is the least challenging of the two modes and chances are you’ll get a rhythm down after your first play through making it very easy to get a high score you can be proud of on your second run through.
The second mode this game offers is the progressive mode. Instead of the net staying perfectly still like it did in the classic mode, the entire back wall will move between three different distances. Your rhythm will effectively be broken every time the net moves, meaning that you have to figure out how hard or soft you have to flick the ball. Once you get it down you can even have fun doing some off the wall shots just to brag.
This game is a great time waster. With each round only lasting 45 seconds, you really can’t go wrong. Surprisingly this app is missing a brag feature and an online scoreboard. Hopefully we’ll see that in future versions of the game, but this is definitely still a great app that even anyone with an iPhone or iPod Touch would get enjoyment out of.
