Tonya: I'm Tonya from Elk river, Minnesota. I would like to know why many fitness experts believe that eating 6 ma meals a day is better for weight loss than eating one large meal a day if their calorie count is the same. Dr. Lawrence Cheskin: Tonya that's a good question, because if in deed the calorie count were exactly the same and you didn't compensate for it by doing something different, exercising more eating more the next day etcetera. Then it shouldn't make any real difference in the amount of weight change that you get. How ever when people only eat one meal a day that's a pattern that's associated with obesity people who eat one meal a day tend to be heavier. And it may be in part because they are not spreading out their calories so they do get hungrier towards the end of the day when they make typically have their major meal and they may just keep eating after that until evening.
