Assembling the Chicken Coop Top Frame

Hello. I’m Galen Bontrager from Galen Bontrager Farm based out in Wellman, Iowa. And we’re looking at how to assemble a chicken pen today.

We’re on about the last step here. We’re assembling the front cover frame that we’ll have and we’ll get this frame put together and have chicken wire on it. I’ve kind of set it out already, waited out my pieces, some ripped 1x6’s again, and this can be ripped in thirds, this particular part of the frame. We have a little different length here as this was 46 in our back end out of eight inches. Our widthwise pieces, I had it a little bit over 49 at least or 80 so that it could rest on the top of the frame. And this way, I make a little bit longer, it’s actually 52.

So I would just go around with my frame laid out like it is. It’s kind of set right how I want it and I’ll fasten this together and just go right around this way. I’ll do the basic square part of the frame first. Next, I put in my cross brace piece. One screw is efficient there for our cross bracing. So now, our frame for the front cover is assembled and we’re ready for our last step to put the chicken wire on the cover.
