I can only speak for Advair, as I have been taking it for about four years. For me, it is a wonder drug; I can't imagine anything better. It says full effect could take up to two wks, but it helped me miraculously in only a few minutes, and has worked wonderfully ever since. For the lungs problems, I forget I even have asthma, or even have lungs, it works so well. I wish there was as good a solution for the nasal part of asthma; that's my problem. I've had nasal polyps removed and my sinuses surgically worked on. For about a year it was wonderful; but now the problem is coming back (nasal congestion) with loss of sense of smell, etc. I am on Veramyst, previously Nasonex, both of which worked great for a long time, but not any more. I guess my body is immune to them.

In asthma, the single most impactful drug is the steroid. Pulmicort is INFERIOR to Flovent. Talking about the Bega Agonists simply diverts attention from the fact that Pulmicort can't control inflammation and promote healing like Flovent. In fact, in the Pulmicort (and Symbicort) PI, it states that Flovent is three times more potent and Pulmicort. Meaning, you need 3 times the dose of the steroid to obtain comparable results. Symbicorts highest strength in the US is 160/4.5 two puffs twice per day. Meaning the patients receives 320 micrograms of Pulmicort at each dose. Dividing 320 by three means the patient receives approximately 106.7 micrograms of Pulmicort. This roughly equals Advairs lowest dose which is 100/50 one puff twice per day. Symbicorts highest dose should provide LONG TERM asthma control similar to Advairs lowest dose. Also, if a patient feels the fast onset of Formoterol EVERY time the product is used, it's not lasting long enough.

Is there a way to get this as text instead of a video? It's a little difficult to understand what the man is saying on these tinny little laptop speakers.

I have switched from Advair to Symbicort 2 months ago and it has completely changed my life for the better. My asthma is still in control, and from day one I felt Symbicort open me up right away. I feel like I can breathe better after a few minutes of taking it every time.
