I'm very surprised a pulmonary specialist would put his name on anything that says Xopenex has decreased side effects.....the clinical data does NOT support this and even Sepacor doesn't even make that claim in its package insert.

My husband is a NMD vent dependent, irregular heart beat (no pacemaker by choice)individual. He is on previcid, Potassium, digoxin, and coumadin for heart. With albuterol his arrythemia goes crazy. With xopenex he is fine. We've tried both due to cost and insurance medicine coverage but we will go without other basic needs vs. xopenex.

What is this nonsense? Where is the full disclosure? Is this sponsored by the manufacturer? All this isomer chemistry is a marketing smoke screen. All it comes down to is that non-racemic albuterol (= levoalbuterol = Xopenex) is merely twice as dense as racemic albuterol so it means you have to give twice as much racemic albuterol to get the same delivered effect of the levoalbuterol and yet Xopenex is 6 times the price!!!! There are studies out there debunking this - you should read them.
